Combined thrombolysis in posterior circulation stroke caused by bilateral vertebral artery dissection in squash player.
CONCLUSIONS: Vertebral artery dissection should be taken into consideration in differential diagnosis of posterior circulation stroke or TIA in young patients with a history of even as subtle precipitating events as forceful head movements. Combined thrombolytic therapy may provide safe and effective treatment of stroke-complicated cases. This case report shows that expanded diagnostic protocol for acute ischemic stroke, including computed tomography perfusion study and angiography of cervical and cranial vessels, assures rapid and correct diagnosis. Comprehensive imaging of stroke - Looking for the gold standard.
CONCLUSIONS: Our study proves that advanced neuroimaging modalities allow for a substantial increase of sensitivity when detecting changes in patients with acute ischaemic strokes and confirming the clinical diagnosis. We believe that MR in combination with DWI should be the imaging methods of choice in diagnosing acute stroke patients. Perfusion adds significant diagnostic value to structural techniques, particularly in clinically ambiguous cases. In cases with a clear clinical picture the data provided by a non-contrast CT study is sufficient for therapeutic decision making. PMID: 27375137 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Mechanical thrombectomy in COVID-19-associated ischaemic stroke: patient characteristics and outcomes in a single-centre study
CONCLUSION: In AIS patients treated with MT, concomitant SARS-CoV2 infection did not affect the outcome. Our observations need to be confirmed in larger, and preferably multicentre, studies.PMID:35315928 | DOI:10.5603/PJNNS.a2022.0026

Venous return in acute ischaemic stroke patients measured during computed tomography angiography of head and neck
CONCLUSIONS: Although no clinical benefit was proven as a result of measuring the time it took contrast media to reach the aorta, our study implies that not only is the brain subject to circulation, but it may also affect its functioning.PMID:34477214 | DOI:10.5603/PJNNS.a2021.0060
