Education in stroke prevention: efficacy of an educational counselling intervention to increase knowledge in stroke survivors.
CONCLUSIONS: Although contact with patients in ambulatory clinical settings is limited due to time constraints, it is still possible to improve knowledge and initiate lifestyle changes utilizing motivational interviewing and a stage of change model. Promoting Evidence-Based Practice at a Primary Stroke Center: A Nurse Education Strategy.
DISCUSSION: This nurse education strategy increased RNs' confidence in ability to explain the path from evidence to bedside nursing care by demonstrating how evidence-based clinical practice guidelines provide current evidence used to create standardized order sets. Although further evaluation of the intervention's effectiveness is needed, this educational intervention has the potential for generalization to different types of standardized order sets to increase nurse confidence in utilization of evidence-based practice. Providing Stroke and Hypertension Education in Amharic for Ethiopian Persons Living in Dallas, Texas, United States.
CONCLUSION: This study did not show a statistically significant increase in knowledge about stroke when presented learning materials in subjects' native language compared to in English. The use of video to present stroke and stroke-risk educational content can be used in future research and global health initiatives to increase stroke knowledge in the Amharic-speaking community. ConclusionHospital length of stay, age, insurance status, discharge disposition, comorbidities, and readmission rates were identified as important elements affecting TOC for stroke and TIA.
