Efficacy and safety of ticagrelor versus clopidogrel with different dosages in acute coronary syndrome patients with high GRACE and CRUSADE scores
CONCLUSIONS: In PCI patients with a high ischemic and bleeding risk, the ticagrelor antiplatelet strategy significantly reduced the MACCE rate without increasing the risk of major bleeding. A decreased MACCE rate was also observed in patients administered the double dosage of clopidogrel, but the bleeding risk was increased compared with the control group.PMID:34154742 | PMC:PMC8322751 | DOI:10.1016/j.ihj.2021.02.002

Characteristics, treatment and one-year outcomes of patients with acute coronary syndrome in a tertiary hospital in India.
CONCLUSIONS: ACS population was older than previously described in India. Evidence-based pharmacotherapy and interventions, and outcomes were comparable to the developed nations. PMID: 24814108 [PubMed - in process]

STEMI vs NSTEACS management trends in non-invasive hospital.
CONCLUSION: NSTEACS patients in western province of KSA present at an older age are mostly males and have higher prevalence of hypertension and hyperlipidemia compared with STEMI patients. It is therefore important to identify patients with high-risk profile and put implement measures to reduce these factors. PMID: 27543475 [PubMed - in process]

Polymorphisms of cytochrome P450 are potential candidates that could potentially help clinicians on the treatment of cardiovascular diseases among Asian populations.
Abstract There are significant ethnic differences in the metabolism of some drugs that can be explained by cytochrome P450 polymorphisms and, in particular, the CYP2D6 isozyme. In addition, among patients who are not carriers of the CYP2C19 loss-of-function alleles, there is a reduced risk of stroke when clopidogrel is taken with aspirin compared to aspirin alone. These findings demonstrate that there is inter-ethnic variability in the metabolism of some drugs, which results in different responses to cardiovascular drugs in Asian versus non-Asian populations. Simplified percutaneous closure of patent foramen ovale and atrial septal defect with use of plain fluoroscopy: Single operator experience in 110 consecutive patients.
CONCLUSION: Percutaneous placement of an Amplatzer occluder was safe and effective with use of local anesthesia and fluoroscopy alone. There were no recurrent strokes over >4 years. Migraine relief was reported by >80% of patients. PMID: 29455783 [PubMed - in process]
