An Observational Study Comparing the Safety and Efficacy of Conventional Anticoagulation Versus New Oral Anticoagulants in the Management of Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis
Conclusion: NOACs were found to be at least as good as conventional anticoagulation for the management of CVST. However, efficacy was almost similar, a finding that is consistent with most of the published case series and the few recently published prospective studies. Larger prospective and population-based studies are needed to clarify our preliminary results.PMID:34818472 | DOI:10.4088/PCC.21m02927

Assessment of the quality of anticoagulation management with warfarin in a tertiary care center.
CONCLUSION: Reflecting the real-life experience of anticoagulation control, our patients spend less than half the TTR within the INR. The low target TTR mandates the need to improve service quality and control factors affecting the TTR, including hemoglobin levels and regular visits for patients with VTE. Practice Variations in the Use of Novel Oral Anticoagulants for Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation-Related Stroke among Stroke Neurologists in Saudi Arabia.
In conclusion, the practice of stroke neurologists is consistent with and supports the available evidence from observational studies on the time of initiation of NOACs. Our findings provide a guide for clinicians who manage nvAF-related stroke until more robust evidence from randomized controlled trials is available. PMID: 31531241 [PubMed]

The CHA2DS2-VASc score and the risk of ischemic stroke in community-dwelling individuals with and without atrial fibrillation: The Atherosclerosis Risk In Communities (ARIC) study
Conclusion The risk of ischemic stroke is low across CHA2DS2-VASc score categories in community-dwelling individuals without AF. Individuals with AF are at high risk for ischemic stroke even with low CHA2DS2-VASc score, suggesting the need for stroke prevention in individuals with AF and one CHA2DS2-VASc stroke risk factor.

Quality of anticoagulation control among patients with atrial fibrillation: An experience of a tertiary care center in Saudi Arabia
Conclusion Quality of anticoagulation in patients with AF receiving medical care in a tertiary care hospital was suboptimal, with nearly 40% of the time spent outside the therapeutic range. Methods to improve anticoagulation control among patients with AF should be implemented.
