This study surveyed public knowledge of risk factors, warning signs, and proper reactions to stroke among Italian adults. A population-based telephone survey was carried out in a sample of 1,000 residents aged ≥18 years in May–June 2010. The questionnaire included close-ended questions focused on stroke symptoms, risk factors, and treatment options. The stroke mothership model survived during COVID-19 era: an observational single-center study in Emilia-Romagna, Italy
ConclusionDuring COVID-19 pandemic, TIA and minor stroke consistently reduced compared to the same timeframe in 2019. Longer stroke-to-call and door-to-scan times, attributable to change in citizen behavior and screening at hospital arrival, did not impact on stroke-to-treatment time. Mothership model might have minimized the effects of the pandemic on the stroke care organization.

Stroke prevention and therapy awareness in a large sample of high school students: results of an educational campaign in the Northern-Western Italy
Discussion and conclusionWe demonstrated that our educational campaign obtained an important improvement of stroke awareness in our sample. Girl students, Lyceum students, and less young students attained significant better knowledge improvement. We hope that the enhanced awareness might induce a more frequent diffusion of prevention strategies, an increased capacity of recognizing onset stroke symptoms with shortening of patients ’ presentation in the emergency room of the hospitals when they can undergo reperfusion treatments.

Planning a campaign to fight stroke: an educational pilot project in La Spezia, Italy
ConclusionsOur results suggest that a personalised education can improve knowledge on stroke symptoms and signs, independently of gender and personal risk factors. The results should be verified in larger and less selection population.

Stroke management during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic: experience from three regions of the north east of Italy (Veneto, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, Trentino-Alto-Adige)
ConclusionsOur study confirmed a decrease in admission rate of stroke patients in a large area of northern Italy during the lockdown period, especially during the first dramatic phase. Overall, there was no decrease in thrombolysis rate, confirming an effect of emergency care system for stroke patients. Instead, the significant decrease in thrombectomy rate during lockdown addresses some considerations of local and regional stroke networks during COVID-19 pandemic evolution.

Management of acute ischemic stroke, thrombolysis rate, and predictors of clinical outcome
Conclusionsi.v. thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy rate was higher than that of previous reports. Minor stroke or stroke in rapid improvement was a major reason for exclusion from thrombolysis of eligible patients. Higher NIHSS proved an independent predictor of unfavorable clinical outcome and death. Strategies to avoid in-hospital delays need to be enforced.

The PRESTO study: awareness of stroke symptoms and time from onset to intervention
In conclusion, our results may suggest that an informative campaign can be successf ul in making people rapidly aware of stroke onset, with the consequent rapid access to hospitals. Considering the changing of way of access to information, we think that an extensive multimedia campaign should be evaluated in the next future.
