Association of Homocysteine with Acute Stroke and Its Subtypes in the Chinese Population
CONCLUSION: Plasma Hcy levels were found to be positively correlated with the risk of stroke, particularly in the context of LAA, SAO stroke, and HICH. Additionally, Hcy levels demonstrated a positive correlation with stroke severity in patients presenting with SAO stroke. These findings suggest potential clinical implications in stroke prevention, particularly for ischemic stroke (LAA, SAO subtypes) and HICH by employing homocysteine-lowering therapies. Future investigations are warranted to fully elucidate these associations.PMID:37342757 | PMC:PMC10278861 | DOI:10.2147/NDT.S409591

Prevalence and Risk Factors of High-Risk Population for Stroke: A Population-Based Cross-Sectional Survey in Southwestern China
Front Neurol. 2022 Mar 2;13:693894. doi: 10.3389/fneur.2022.693894. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTWith the aging of the population and the change of lifestyle in China, the prevalence and risk factors of the high-risk population for stroke may change. However, few studies performed community-based high-risk stroke population surveys in China. Hence, we performed this multicenter, cross-sectional, and community-based survey in Sichuan of southwestern China, according to the China National Stroke Screening Survey (CNSSS) program in 2015. The residents aged ≥ 40 years volunteered to participate in the face-to-face survey in 8 co...

Predictive Role of hsCRP in Recurrent Stroke Differed According to Severity of Cerebrovascular Disease: Analysis from a Prospective Cohort Study
J Clin Med. 2023 Feb 20;12(4):1676. doi: 10.3390/jcm12041676.ABSTRACTElevated levels of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) were associated with an increased risk of recurrent stroke. However, it is still unknown whether the predictive value of hsCRP differed according to the severity of cerebrovascular disease. We used the cohort of the prospective multicenter cohort study of the Third China National Stroke Registry (CNSR-III), in which 10,765 consecutive patients with acute ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA) had hsCRP levels measured. Patients were classified into minor stroke, or TIA, and non-min...

Association of Stroke Subtype With Hemorrhagic Transformation Mediated by Thrombectomy Pass: Data From the ANGEL-ACT Registry
CONCLUSIONS: Stroke subtype is an independent risk factor for HT within 24 hours following endovascular treatment among acute large vessel occlusion patients. Mediation analyses propose that stroke subtype contributes to HT partly through thrombectomy pass, suggesting a possible pathomechanistic link.PMID:35354298 | DOI:10.1161/STROKEAHA.121.037411

Analysis of Carotid Ultrasound Screening of High-Risk Groups of Stroke Based on Big Data Technology
J Healthc Eng. 2022 Jan 25;2022:6363691. doi: 10.1155/2022/6363691. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTIn order to understand detection of carotid atherosclerosis in the screening of high-risk stroke populations in a certain area of China, we have analyzed related risk factors of CAS. In accordance with the requirements of the "2015 Technical Plan for the Screening and Intervention Projects for High-Risk Stroke Populations," a cluster sampling method was used to select 4532 (number of screened persons from 2015 to 2021) permanent residents over 41 years old () in Shaheying Town, Liulin Town, Chenggu County, Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Pr...

Association of Residual Inflammatory Risk with Stroke Recurrence in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke or TIA
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with AIS or TIA, persistent high RIR increased the risks of 1-year stroke recurrence, especially in those with ICAS or LAA subtype; composite vascular events; mortality, and poor functional outcome.PMID:35380744 | DOI:10.1111/ene.15344

Association and mediating mechanism between remnant cholesterol and first-ever stroke among the Chinese general population
CONCLUSION: High RC increased the risk of first-ever stroke in the Chinese general population without previous stroke and myocardial infarction, partially through the pathway of hypertension. RC might be a potential target for the primary prevention of stroke.PMID:37304024 | PMC:PMC10247974 | DOI:10.3389/fnins.2023.1161367

Association Between High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein and Prognosis in Different Periods After Ischemic Stroke or Transient Ischemic Attack
Conclusions Elevated levels of hsCRP measured in the first 72 hours after ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack but not 72 hours to 8 days, were associated with an increased risk of 1-year stroke recurrence.PMID:35766270 | DOI:10.1161/JAHA.122.025464

Impact of miR-200b and miR-495 variants on the risk of large-artery atherosclerosis stroke
Metab Brain Dis. 2022 Nov 14. doi: 10.1007/s11011-022-01119-w. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSingle-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of microRNAs (miRNAs) may alter miRNA transcription, maturation and target specificity, thus affecting stroke susceptibility. We aimed to investigate whether miR-200b and miR-495 SNPs may be associated with ischemic stroke (IS) risk and further explore underlying mechanisms including related genes and pathways. MiR-200b rs7549819 and miR-495 rs2281611 polymorphisms were genotyped among 712 large-artery atherosclerosis (LAA) stroke patients and 1,076 controls in a case-control study. Bioinforma...
