Factors associated with the development of skin allergies in premature newborns in the first year of life
CONCLUSION: Skin allergy, in the perception of caregivers, is more severe in newborn infants who have clinical respiratory and gastrointestinal manifestations, be it conditioning or cause-effect. Evaluation of Antibiotic Allergies in Surgical Patients
Antibiotic administration in the perioperative period is the foundation of preventing surgical site infections. β-Lactam antibiotics, notably the first-generation cephalosporin cefazolin, are the drugs of choice for this indication. Facial Flushing, Nausea, Sweating, and Palpitations After Eating Fish
Scombroid poisoning is the most common fish-borne –related illness that is encountered in clinical practice by clinicians. The presentation of this condition can often mimic that of fish allergies and lead to misdiagnosis and treatment. Nurse practitioners should be familiar with the presentation of scombroid poisoning, risk factors, pathophysiol ogy, and condition management. This case challenge presents a patient presenting to the emergency department with signs and symptoms of scombroid poisoning with the nurse practitioner's diagnostic reasoning while evaluating such a patient.
