Subclassification of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyp based on eosinophil and neutrophil
ConclusionThe eosinophilic CRSwNP phenotype is clinically characterized by serum eosinophilia, atopy, extensive disease, and poor prognosis compared to the neutrophilic and the noneosinophilic nonneutrophilic groups. We clearly demonstrated that all three subgroups of CRSwNP had characteristic differences in those inflammatory markers, which allows for pathophysiologically meaningful differentiations with likely therapeutic consequences. Impact of synechiae after endoscopic sinus surgery on long‐term outcomes in chronic rhinosinusitis
ConclusionsSynechiae of the sinonasal cavity commonly occurs following ESS, particularly in those undergoing revision surgeries. Although both groups improve, the degree of HRQoL improvement appears to be less in those who form postoperative synechiae after surgery compared to those who do not. Level of Evidence2c. Long‐term utility outcomes in patients undergoing endoscopic sinus surgery
ConclusionsThis study has demonstrated that patients with refractory CRS achieve stable mean long‐term utility levels following ESS and often return to a health state comparable to US population norms. Level of Evidence2b. Laryngoscope, 2013

Pharmacoeconomics of Cyclamen europaeum in the management of acute rhinosinusitis
ConclusionsThe use of CE (Nasodren®) may be associated to better clinical outcomes at no additional cost for the healthcare system with respect to treatments commonly used for ARS in clinical practice. Level of Evidence2c. Laryngoscope, 2013

Chronic rhinosinusitis increased the risk of chronic periodontitis
ConclusionsThis study detected an increased risk for CP among patients suffering from CRS. CRS patients should be alerted to pay particular attention to their oral hygiene practices to prevent both CP and its downstream sequelae.

Improvement of olfactory function for quality of life recovery
ConclusionsQoL and mental health of patients suffering from chronic sinonasal diseases are totally recovered after treatment, presenting a direct positive relationship with smell improvement. An increase of olfactory function by 3.50 points for AR and 4.75 points for CRS might be considered the cutoff point for patients' QoL significant recovery. Level of Evidence4. Laryngoscope, 2013

Long‐term outcome of once daily nasal irrigation for the treatment of pediatric chronic rhinosinusitis
Conclusion: Nasal irrigation is effective as a first‐line treatment for pediatric CRS and subsequent nasal symptoms, and reduces need for FESS and CT imaging.

Efficacy of intra‐ and extraturbinal microdebrider turbinoplasty in perennial allergic rhinitis
Conclusion: Although both methods showed significant improvement, extraturbinal MAIT seemed more effective for long‐term relief of allergic symptoms. However, the advantages and disadvantages of each method should be considered before choosing the surgical technique.

Nasopharyngeal lymphangioma in an adult: A rarity
We report a 60‐years‐old male case with a nasopharyngeal mass which presented with nasal obstruction. The surgical excision of mass performed by combined transoral and transnasal endoscopic approach. Histopathological evaluation revealed the diagnosis as lymphangioma. After a follow‐up of 18 months the patient is free of recurrence.

Factors affecting time to revision sinus surgery for nasal polyps: A 25‐year experience
Conclusion: The time course between sinus surgeries in patients with regrowth of nasal polyps appears to be affected by certain modifiable extrinsic factors, including smoking on the part of the patient and operative technique on the part of the surgeon. The performance of middle turbinate resection during sinus surgery appears to extend the time interval until a revision procedure is required.

Aspirin sensitivity does not compromise quality of life outcomes in patients with Samter's triad
ConclusionAlthough Samter's triad patients present with more severe disease and are more likely to undergo revision surgery, they have postoperative quality‐of‐life outcomes that are comparable to patients with eCRSwP who are not aspirin sensitive. This is the first study to utilize a disease‐specific, validated outcomes instrument in comparing Samter's triad patients with aspirin tolerant patients who have nasal polyposis and tissue eosinophilia.

A case report of intra‐operative retroorbital fluid dissection after frontal minitrephine placement
Abstract We report a case of a 24‐year‐old male with a history of allergic fungal sinusitis, who experienced an intraoperative retroorbital fluid dissection after frontal minitrephine placement. Although minitrephination of the frontal sinus is a useful technique that is frequently employed during endoscopic sinus surgery it has potential complications. The purpose of this report is to discuss a previously unreported complication of frontal minitrephination and its management.

Prospective clinical trial of gelatin‐thrombin matrix as first line treatment of posterior epistaxis
Conclusion: This pilot study demonstrated that gelatin‐thrombin matrix is a safe and both a clinically effective and cost saving means of treating posterior epistaxis. In this study, its use is associated with a low level of discomfort. This treatment method may improve the quality of care for patients with posterior epistaxis.

Comparison of nasal sprays and irrigations in the delivery of topical agents to the olfactory mucosa
Conclusions: Compared to sprays, irrigations provide a more effective method of delivering topical agents to the posterior and superior aspects of the nasal cavity. The thorough distribution of irrigations has important clinical implications for improving the delivery of therapeutic agents to the olfactory mucosa.

Long‐term outcomes for the endoscopic modified lothrop/draf III procedure: A 10‐year review
ConclusionsThis is the single largest study of EMLP in the literature with a long follow‐up period. It illustrates the benefit of the EMLP for patients with CRS recalcitrant to medical and standard endoscopic sinus surgery.
