Mast cells infiltrate the alveolar parenchyma in young children with respiratory viral infections
Conclusions: The results from our study demonstrate that a viral infection affecting the peripheral lung evokes a rapid accumulation of MCs in the alveolar parenchyma in both infant humans and mice. Since MCs are very long-lived and are likely to remain in the tissue after the infection has been cleared, a notion supported by the animal data, the increased MC numbers might also affect susceptibility towards allergens and asthma development later in life.

Genetic variation in human RHS7 of the TH2 locus control region influences DNA methylation and is associated with IgE
Conclusion: Polymorphism rs2240032 in the TH2 cytokine locus influences 5q31 DNA methylation and total IgE levels.

Therapeutic effectpredictors during sublingual immunotherapy for Japanese seasonal allergic rhinitis
Japanese seasonal allergic rhinitis (JSAR) differs markedly from other pollen allergies, and is characteristic to our country, what it recently called "national affliction" in Japan. Antigen-specific immunotherapy can change the natural course of AR and is recognized as a curative treatment against type I allergy without impaired performance. Recently, in Japan, sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) has been developed and has become a safer and more beneficial immunotherapy for JSAR.We have continued the SLIT for the patients of Japanese cedar pollinosis for several years, symptom medication scores were observed during the peak ...

Patterns of clinical use of omalizumab in Spain: A 5-year "real-life" study
Conclusions: Severe asthma was the main indication for omalizumab prescription, albeit other serious and long-standing immunological diseases were identified. Omalizumab is a good therapeutic option for all the evaluated indications.

Association between control of rhinitis and control of asthma as assessed by validated questionnaires
Conclusion. Control of asthma and control of rhinitis were highly concordant in a random population of patients with both diseases. The relatively higher number of discordant cases of uncontrolled rhinitis among controlled asthmatics reemphasizes the need to actively seek and treat nasal symptoms in asthma patients.

Skin prick test versus specific IgE - A comparative study in patients with bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis in India
Conclusions: SSIgE using antigen extracts of cockroach and housefly from a different geographical region seem to give comparable results, and can thus be reliably used in evaluation of allergy.

Co-sensitization to silkworm moth (Bombyx mori) and 9 inhalant allergens among allergy patients in Guangzhou, Southern China
Conclusion: In southern Chinese patients with allergic diseases, we showed a high prevalence of silkworm moth sensitization, and a co-sensitization between silkworm moth and other five allergens. Such co-sensitization may also result from cross-reactivity of allergens, rendering future studies needed for clarification.

Prevalence of allergen sensitization among patients with allergic diseases in Guangzhou, Southern China: A six-year observational study
Conclusions: Such a sequence of events may be a result of allergy march. Knowledge on the prevalence of allergen sensitization in different age groups would help early diagnosis and intervention of allergic diseases in this large geographical region.

Prevalence and comorbidities of bronchial asthma in Germany - A population based study of 185.999 patient cases in Saarland
ConclusionThe prevalence of allergic asthma, which is mostly attended by comorbidities, is 5.3% in Saarland. Women are mostly more affected. We suggest the implication of comorbidities when diagnosing asthma and elaborating a therapy.

A new naturalistic asthma model in the environmental exposure chamber to study mild asthmatics safely and consistently
Conclusions: The EEC Asthma Model represents a more naturalistic model for the study of asthma. IgE and SPT are useful to characterize asthmatic patients and safely predict their response in the EEC.

Lower values of VEGF in the endometrial lining are a possible cause of reduced fertility in asthmatic patients
Conclusion: Asthma is associated with lower values of VEGF in the uterine lining, which might affect the receptiveness of the endometrium and thereby increase time to pregnancy. The effect appears to be associated with non-atopic asthma with general increased systemic inflammation.

Non-invasive markers of airway eosinophilic inflammation in pre-school children
Conclusion: Unlike in older chilren with severe asthma (Ullmann, N. et al. Allergy 2013; 68: 402-6), blood eosinophils may be a useful non-invasive measure of BAL eosinophilia in pre-school wheezers. FENO was less promising in this small subgroup.

Association of FCER2 polymorphism with IgE levels and exacerbations in asthmatic children
Conclusions: CC genotype was significantly less frequent in Argentinean population and was associated with higher IgE levels. FCER2 variants not related to increased risk of having asthma exacerbations or lung function decline in severe asthmatic children taking ICS and LABAs regularly.(1) Koster E. et al. Allergy 2011;66:1546–1552.

Does low prevalence of pig allergy among Danish farmers reflect flaws in the skin prick test?
Conclusion:All tests confirmed a low prevalence of pig sensitization among Danish farmers. There was no clear consistency between sIgE tests and WB with PD. sIgE tests with in-house PD and commercial extracts had similar results, but more distinct in in-house PD based tests.
