Are disease-related symptoms important to predicting developing diabetes from prediabetes?
DISCUSSION: Especially; during the follow-up of patients with prediabetes who have a low education level and diabetic family history and concomitant hyperlipidemia, there may be an increase in neurological and hyperglycemic symptoms at the point of development of type 2 diabetes. In this respect, we recommend that these factors, which we found to be predictive of diabetes compared to prediabetes, should be questioned more carefully during patient visits.PMID:36326390 | DOI:10.55730/1300-0144.5412

Translocation breakpoints of chromosome 3 in male carriers: a report of twelve cases and a review of the literature
Conclusion: All breakpoints at chromosome 3 were correlated with gestational infertility. The breakpoints at 3q12 and 3q29 were the most common. Carriers of chromosome 3 translocation should thus be counseled on the need for other chromosomal breakpoints and preimplantation genetic diagnosis or prenatal testing. Current perspectives for the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia
Authors: Aladağ E, Haznedaroğlu İC Abstract With an annual incidence of 1-2 in a million, Ph*(+) chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a clonal hematopoietic stem cell disease that makes myeloid neoplastic cells breed out of control. This BCR-ABL(+) myeloproliferative disease makes up about 15%-20% of all leukemia cases in adults. CML is seen more in males than females, with a rate of three to two. However, it does not show differences in prevalence in terms of age. CML consists of three clinical phases. The first one is the chronic phase, defined by rising white blood cell levels and also by myeloid proliferation a...

Geoepidemiology and clinical characteristics of neonatal lupus erythematosus: A Systematic Literature Review of individual patients? data.
CONCLUSIONS: Phenotypic differences of NLE depending on race and country may reflect true pathophysiologic differences or methodologic discrepancies. While maternal autoimmune disease is not a prerequisite for development of NLE, the existence of a truly ?immunonegative? CHB is questionable. PMID: 31905489 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Ankaferd hemostat: from molecules to medicine.
ANKAFERD HEMOSTAT: FROM MOLECULES TO MEDICINE. Turk J Med Sci. 2020 Apr 14;: Authors: Çiftçiler R, Haznedaroglu IC Abstract Ankaferd hemostat (ABS; Ankaferd blood stopper®, Istanbul, Turkey) is a hemostatic agent having an impact on red blood cell-fibrinogen interactions. The hemostatic effect of ABS depends upon the quick promotion of a protein network, particularly fibrinogen gamma, in relation to the erythrocyte aggregation. The entire physiological process involves ABS-induced formation of the protein network by vital erythrocyte aggregation. Vital erythroid aggregation occurs with the spectrine...

Frequency of sarcopenia and associated outcomes in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
CONCLUSIONS: Sarcopenia in COPD patients was closely related to the severity of COPD and a negative prognosis. The frequency of sarcopenia increased in severe and very severe COPD cases. Dyspnoea scores were higher and exercise capacities were lower in patients with sarcopenia. In patients with COPD, a diagnosis of sarcopenia should be considered, and preventive measures should be taken before irreversable changes develop. PMID: 32421282 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Neonatal pneumothorax from the perspective of a pediatric surgeon's: classification and management protocol. Preliminary algorithm.
CONCLUSION: Classification of pneumothoraces into different types significantly contributes to patient treatment planning through a predetermined strategy, not through trial-and-error. High frequency and zero PEEP ventilation can provide significant improvement in risky cases. PMID: 33433972 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
