COVID-19 and kidney: role of SARS-CoV-2 infection in the induction of renal damage
CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of AKI and/or CKD and/or abnormal urinalysis in patients diagnosed with COVID-19 on admission seems to be high and appears as a negative prognostic factor. Urinalysis appears to be very useful in unveiling the potential kidney impairment of COVID-19 patients; therefore, urinalysis could be used to reflect and predict the disease severity. We also recommend a careful evaluation of metabolic alterations, inflammatory states, and electrolytic disorders in COVID-19 patients.PMID:37667963 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33441

Independent risk factors for COVID-19-associated coagulopathy
CONCLUSIONS: Not receiving LMWH, high levels of D-dimer, initial LDH, and initial ferritin are independent risk factors for CAC. DIC does not appear to develop based on COVID-19.PMID:37667962 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33440

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on accidental and suicidal drug intake rates, what has the pandemic changed?
CONCLUSIONS: With the pandemic, increased cases of neglect because of accidental drug intake and the increase in suicidal drug intake are worrisome. Protecting and improving the mental health of the society, especially of parents and adolescents, is very important in preventing suicide and child neglect and abuse from reaching dangerous levels in pandemics.PMID:37667960 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33438

Telogen effluvium and COVID-19: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: In our study, the incidence of TE was highly related to COVID-19 infections among both sexes. However, the incidence was greater among the female population. The awareness level toward post-COVID-19 TE was poor among most of the participants in our study.PMID:37667959 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33437

Study on early markers of death in patients with COVID-19
CONCLUSIONS: Underlying heart disease, lymphocyte count, glomerular filtration rate, lactate, oxygenation index, SOFA score, and MuLBSTA score were associated with the risk of death in severe and critical COVID-19 patients.PMID:37667958 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33436

Functional assessment in endometrial and cervical cancer: diffusion and perfusion, two captivating tools for radiologists
Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci. 2023 Aug;27(16):7793-7810. doi: 10.26355/eurrev_202308_33435.ABSTRACTUterine cervical and endometrial cancers are two major gynecological malignancies, affecting women's health worldwide. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is appropriate for evaluating malignant disease, thanks to the excellent soft tissue contrast and multiplanar imaging ability. Recently, functional MR techniques, namely diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and dynamic contrast-enhanced imaging (DCE), have proved to be a precious support not only in cancer diagnosis but also in disease staging, in the therapy planning, in monitoring ...

Prognostic and predictive significance of GITR in metastatic renal cell carcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with metastatic RCC, higher GITR was associated with better PFS. At the same time, in patients using nivolumab, better PFS was seen in the GITR high group. If supported by prospective studies, GITR can be used as both a prognostic and predictive marker.PMID:37667956 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33433

Effects of different targeted therapies associated with adjuvant chemotherapy on clinical remission, survival and safety in patients with triple-negative breast cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Targeted therapy associated with adjuvant chemotherapy can remarkably enhance the outcome of patients with advanced TNBC, prolonging their progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) without increasing adverse effects. The validity of this research, however, will require higher quality studies and longer follow-ups.PMID:37667955 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33431

Prevention of recurrent respiratory tract infections: a literature review of the activity of the bacterial lysate Lantigen B
CONCLUSIONS: These data confirm the efficacy of Lantigen B alone in the prophylaxis of acute respiratory infections in adults and children but also suggest that Lantigen B, used with novel therapeutic strategies, can further improve clinical outcomes.PMID:37667954 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33430

The effect of parecoxib sodium combined with perioperative psychological care on postoperative pain in elderly patients with hip fractures
CONCLUSIONS: Perioperative psychological nursing combined with preemptive analgesia of parecoxib sodium has a significant positive effect on elderly patients with hip fractures after surgery. The combined nursing intervention can further alleviate postoperative pain, improve patients' psychological status, promote the recovery of hip joint function, and significantly improve the daily living ability and quality of life of patients. The combined intervention plan is worthy of clinical promotion and application.PMID:37667953 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33429

Attitudes scale toward cancer-related cognitive changes - an initial Colombian validation
CONCLUSIONS: The first attempt to measure the construct of interest was developed with two primary validity evidence based on the content and its internal structure. This instrument could help strengthen the prevention of cancer-related cognitive changes. More research is needed to adhere more valid evidence to the scale.PMID:37667952 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33428

Impact of COVID-19 vaccination on parental and childhood stress levels in Greece
CONCLUSIONS: Parental vaccination against COVID-19 is a significant stress and anxiety predictor for both parents and their offspring. Parental and childhood stress levels were correlated, while the effect of vaccination was independent of the pandemic phase. The campaigns to promote vaccine uptake against COVID-19 should also highlight its potential benefit on the psychological well-being of the family.PMID:37667951 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33427

Clinical evaluation of hysterectomy for the treatment of invasive mole in Southern Vietnam
CONCLUSIONS: Hysterectomy can be considered safe and effective in treating invasive mole patients. Although patients were treated by hysterectomy, 24.87% of patients needed salvage chemotherapy to achieve remission. This study affirms the malignant nature of invasive mole, a subtype of gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN). It is not purely a local invasion of molar villi. Postoperative chemotherapy plays an essential role in reducing the risk of requiring salvage chemotherapy.PMID:37667950 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33426
