Disappearance of severe oral allergy syndrome following omalizumab treatment.

Abstract
Summary: The first case of disappearance of apple-induced oral allergy syndrome in a birch pollen-allergic patient following omalizumab treatment is reported. This observation in a case of type 2 food allergy suggests that omalizumab is potentially an effective preventive treatment for patients with severe, type 1 food allergies.

Skin prick test analysis reveals cross-sensitization to tomato profilin and grass pollen in nasobronchialallergic patients with history of tomato food allergy.
We report here, the first such study in Indian population. We investigated 246 allergic rhinitis / asthma patients by diagnostic case history and skin prick test (SPT); grass pollen mix, tomato extract and purified tomato profilin were used for SPT. Tomato profilin was purified by affinity chromatography, and analyzed by HPLC (95% purity) and SDS-PAGE (14 kDa). We observed that 38% of the patients had sensitization to both grass pollen and tomato fruit, of which 92% were sensitized to tomato profilin. Anaphylaxis in a food allergy outpatient department: one-year review.
Conclusion. In accordance to other studies, milk and egg were the most implicated allergens in children. Anaphylaxis in adults reflects the Mediterranean sensitization pattern. Exercise was the most relevant cofactor.

Unusual allergy to soy appeared in adult age.

Abstract
A case of adult onset severe soy allergy is discussed. The allergen protein involved did not correspond to those presently detectable by commercial diagnostic means, but was not identified, possibly due to the insufficient level of specific IgE. Fresh foods and commercial food extracts remain an invaluable tool to support the diagnosis of food allergy, both in-vivo and in-vitro.

Ultra short pre-seasonal subcutaneous immunotherapy and pre-coseasonal sublingual immunotherapy for pollen allergy: an evaluation of patient's preference in real life.
CONCLUSION: Patients are active subjects in decisional process. Trying to apply in real life the indications coming from guidelines about patient's preference is an important matter. In our patients SCIT with ultra short schedule and SLIT are similarly preferred.

An unusual case of occupational asthma in a part time magician. He has got an allergy surprise from his top hat!
In this report we describe a case of respiratory allergy induced by an unusual occupational exposure to rabbit. The patient worked as a part-time magician in theatres and private parties and the most popular performance of his show was to pull out a white rabbit from a top hat. Galactose- α-1,3-galactose allergy: a rare syndrome and an atypical presentation.
In this study, we report the case of a 76-year-old male with an immediate reaction following the ingestion of red meat. Rigorous diagnostic exams, including prick test, prick-to-prick tests, serum specific IgE and SDS-PAGE IgE-immunoblotting, were performed. The α-gal epitope IgE re-turned a value of 35.3 kUA/L, leading the authors to believe that this is an atypical case of α-gal allergy.

Allergy to LTP: to eat or not to eat sensitizing foods? A follow-up study.
