Prescriptive appropriateness using inhalant and food allergen panels: a comparison between General Practitioners' and Allergists' prescription in Genoa (Italy).
Conclusions. This study underlines the relevance of prescriptive appropriateness in the allergy work-up. The sIgE assay should be limited to those allergens that have a clinical relevance, based on clinical history.

Medicinal bioactivites and allergenic properties of pumpkin seeds: review upon a pediatric food anaphylaxis case report.
We report here a case of food anaphylaxis to pumpkin seed in an eight-year-old boy, who tolerated all other edible seeds, peanut and tree nuts, as well as pulp of different kinds of pumpkins and other fruits of the Cucurbitaceae family. From this observation, a review of the botanical, historical, medicinal and allergenic aspects of pumpkin and its seeds is proposed. Summary: Food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES) is an under-recognized and frequently misdiagnosed non-IgE mediated food allergy syndrome. Latex sensitization in patients with myelomeningocele: contribution of microarray technique.
Conclusion. Both methods are effective in assisting the diagnosis of latex allergy, but differ in the assessment of sensitized pediatric patients with myelomeningocele. The assessment of latex sensitized patients is more complete using the 8 recombinant latex fractions available for ImmunoCAP®, instead of I-ISAC®.

Severe anaphylaxis to Propofol: first case of evidence of sensitization to soy oil.
We report a case of anaphylaxis to propofol in an adult patient without food allergy to soy, but with a latent sensitization to soy. An IgE-dependent allergy to propofol was established by a basophil activation test. Here, we document for the first time the existence of specific IgEs to a 65kDa protein, found in soybean oil and soy flour. In the absence of data on the reactogenic threshold for allergenic food proteins injected intravenously, a risk appears to be established and leads us to recommend a systematic detection for proteins in the refined soybean oil used in the pharmaceutical industry for intravenous products. ...

Allergen immunotherapy in polysensitized patient.
The objective we are facing is that in many patients tested as poly-reactive, we have to distinguish in which cases it is a true polysensitization, and when it is due to cross-reactivity of specific IgE antibodies induced by panallergens. This may really determine when AIT may be an appropriate course of action. The article focuses on this problem in more detail, applying the long time Czech and Slovak experience with allergy testing and allergen immunotherapy.

Bet v 1 sensitization modulates allergenic molecular 1 immune response.
Conclusions The present study demonstrates that Bet v 1 sensitization may significantly affect the sensitization pattern in children living in Genoa, a Mediterranean city located in a birch-free area.

Tree Nuts Anaphylaxis in Preschool Age Children.
Conclusions. In preschool age children with TNs-FIA, cashew and walnut were the commonest implicated nuts. Most reactions occurred briefly after exposure to minimal amounts of TNs, demonstrating the high potency of these allergens. About one-third also had peanut sensitization. Potentially life-threatening TNs allergy can occur early in childhood and adequate management should be undertaken.

Subcutaneous and sublingual allergen-specific immunotherapy: a tale of two routes.
This article reviewed the available literature, including a large number of randomized controlled trials, meta-analyses, and real-life studies as well, on the outcomes of SCIT and SLIT concerning the treatment critical issues of the two routes, that are efficacy, safety, cost-effectiveness, and compliance to treatment.
