Id: 3526039 food allergy sensitivity test (fast) with endomicroscopy of the duodenum enables tailored exclusion diet in patients with irritable bowel syndrome
Patients suffering from irritable bowel syndrome have an increased prevalence of typical and atypical food allergies. Endomicroscopy with food exposition during ongoing upper endoscopy (Food Allergy Sensitivity Test - FAST) is a new diagnostic method for food associates symptoms (Gastroenterology 2019 Jul;157(1):109-118).

Sa1738 Confocal Laser Endomicroscopy Can Identify Microscopic Signs of Inflammation in Patients With Food Allergy
The immune-mediated adverse reaction to food is defined as food allergy, which can be divided into IgE mediated or non-IgE mediated food allergy. Although signs of mucosal injury might be seen during white light endoscopy in severe cases food allergy, these findings are unspecific and subtle. Hence, endoscopic biopsy is considered one of the cornerstones in the diagnostic work-up of suspected food allergy. Within this study, we aimed to assess the potential of confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE) as an advanced endoscopic imaging technique allowing for microscopic imaging of the intestinal mucosa for the diagnosis of food allergy.

Mo1617 Histological and Lavage Markers for Food Allergy Are Not Reliable Predictive of Food Intolerance in Patients With IBS Proven to Be Food Intolerant on Confocal LASER Endomicroscopy
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional gastrointestinal (GI) disorder with a poorly understood etiology. Beside genetic factors the pathogenesis is considered to involve activation of the innate and acquired immune system leading to chronic intestinal low-grade inflammation. Real time dynamic functional imaging using confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE) in patients with IBS and suspected food intolerance has been used to monitor the onset and evolution of pathophysiological processes in their natural environment at a microscopic level.
