Phytanoyl-CoA 2-Hydroxylase-Interacting Protein-Like Gene Is a Therapeutic Target Gene for Glioblastoma Multiforme.
This study searched for significant genes and the mechanisms involved in GBM. We used the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) to test the WHO normal and IV glioma database, used R tool to identify the significant gene, and finally, combined these with The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) to verify the significant genes. Subsequently, we explored the biological mechanisms involved. Phytanoyl-CoA 2-hydroxylase-interacting protein-like gene (PHYHIPL) is downregulated in grade IV glioma (GBM). The downregulation of PHYHIPL in GBM is accompanied by poor overall survival in the TCGA database, which indicates that PHYHIPL is a protection gen...

Abdominal Aortic Transplantation of Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells Regulates the Expression of Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor and Inflammatory Cytokines in a Rat Model of Spinal Cord Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury.
CONCLUSIONS In a rat model of spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion injury, abdominal aortic transplantation of BMMSCs increased the expression of CNTF, which improved hindlimb locomotor recovery by regulating the expression of IL-6 and IL-10 to reduce inflammation of the spinal cord. Regulation of Proliferation and Epithelial-to-Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) of Gastric Cancer by ZEB1 via Modulating Wnt5a and Related Mechanisms.
CONCLUSIONS ZEB1 expression is increased in GC tumor tissues and is associated with pathological features. The downregulation of ZEB1 can facilitate cell apoptosis via mediating Wnt5a, further suppressing GC cell proliferation and migration, and reducing EMT occurrence. Resveratrol Reduces Oxidative Stress and Apoptosis in Podocytes via Sir2-Related Enzymes, Sirtuins1 (SIRT1)/Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor γ Co-Activator 1α (PGC-1α) Axis.
CONCLUSIONS Resveratrol can reduce the oxidative damage and apoptosis of podocytes induced by high-glucose stimulation via SIRT1/PGC-1α-mediated mitochondrial protection. PMID: 30765684 [PubMed - in process]

Expression of Tripartite Motif-Containing Proteactiin 11 (TRIM11) is Associated with the Progression of Human Prostate Cancer and is Downregulated by MicroRNA-5193.
CONCLUSIONS TRIM11 was upregulated in prostate cancer tissue and was associated with reduced prognosis. TRIM11 expression increased cell proliferation in vitro and was downregulated by miR-5193. PMID: 30608062 [PubMed - in process]

Silencing the ACAT1 Gene in Human SH-SY5Y Neuroblastoma Cells Inhibits the Expression of Cyclo-Oxygenase 2 (COX2) and Reduces β-Amyloid-Induced Toxicity Due to Activation of Protein Kinase C (PKC) and ERK.
CONCLUSIONS Silencing ACAT1 attenuates Aβ₂₅₋₃₅-induced cytotoxicity and cell apoptosis in SH-SY5Y cells, which may due to the synergistic effect of ACAT1 and COX2 through PKC/ERK pathways. PMID: 30541014 [PubMed - in process]

High Mobility Group Box 1 (HMGB1) Predicts Invasion and Poor Prognosis of Glioblastoma Multiforme via Activating AKT Signaling in an Autocrine Pathway.
CONCLUSIONS HMGB1 is an independent prognostic biomarker for unfavorable prognosis of patients with GBM. Released HMGB1 of GBM cells can activate AKT and ERK signaling pathways and promote GBM cells invasion in this autocrine pathway, indicating that anti-HMGB1 therapy may be a promising treatment for GBM.
