Traumatic sigmoid colon rupture due to breast cancer metastasis: a case report
Clin J Gastroenterol. 2023 Sep 21. doi: 10.1007/s12328-023-01859-x. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe metastasis of breast cancer to the gastrointestinal tract is rare. Herein, we presented the case of an 85-year-old woman who had a history of invasive lobular carcinoma and experienced complete colon rupture due to relatively low-energy trauma. The patient underwent bilateral total mastectomy and axillary dissection following preoperative chemotherapy 6 years ago. She had a local recurrence 2 years after the surgery and underwent chemotherapy. Subsequently, the cancer metastasized to the thoracolumbar area and retroperiton...

Bone-Targeted Therapy Regimen and Skeletal-Related Events in Patients Surviving Longer Than 2 Years With Metastatic Breast Cancer and Bone Metastasis
CONCLUSION: Oncologists may have increased flexibility regarding the frequency of administration of BTT along with their choice of agent. Our study showed no significant difference in the prevention of overall SRE or development of BTT-associated harms between the BTT regimens evaluated.PMID:37735019 | DOI:10.1016/j.clbc.2023.08.008

Prepectoral Direct-To-Implant One-Stage Reconstruction With ADMs: Safety and Outcome in "Thin Patients"
CONCLUSIONS: Prepectoral reconstruction with ADM in thin patients may be considered as safe as in standard BMI patients. Rippling may be more frequent, but, whenever needed, easy to correct with a few sessions of lipo-grafts.LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: III.PMID:37735018 | DOI:10.1016/j.clbc.2023.08.007

Value of ultrasound in assessing response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer
CONCLUSION: This study has shown significance in reducing LD measurements on ultrasound as a predictor of PCR and RCB class. This adds weight to the current practice of using ultrasound at the start, mid and end of chemotherapy cycles to monitor NACT responses.PMID:37734976 | DOI:10.1016/j.crad.2023.07.010

Differential benefit of metronomic chemotherapy among triple negative breast cancer subtypes treated in the IBCSG Trial 22-00
CONCLUSIONS: Our results show a differential benefit of low-dose CM therapy across different TNBC subtypes. Low-dose CM therapy could be considered as a potential immunomodulatory strategy for TNBC tumors with IM subtype in the early-disease setting.PMID:37733800 | DOI:10.1158/1078-0432.CCR-23-1267

Near-infrared spectral tomography for predicting residual cancer burden during early stage neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer
CONCLUSION: NIRST holds promise as a potential clinical tool that can be seamlessly integrated into existing clinical workflow within the infusion suite. By providing early assessment of RCB, NIRST has potential to improve breast cancer patient management strategies.PMID:37733788 | DOI:10.1158/1078-0432.CCR-23-1593

Non-retroareolar male mucinous breast cancer without gynecomastia development in an elderly man: A case report
CONCLUSION: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case report of MMBC in the non-retroareolar region of the nipple without gynecomastia development. Mucinous tumors are easily missed during diagnosis, and the incidence of axillary lymph node metastases of chest mucinous tumors has increased.PMID:37727495 | PMC:PMC10506025 | DOI:10.12998/wjcc.v11.i25.5954
