The binary boron lithium clusters B12Lin with n = 1 –14: in search for hydrogen storage materials
Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys., 2021, Advance Article DOI: 10.1039/D1CP03682C, PaperLong Van Duong, Nguyen Thanh Si, Nguyen Phi Hung, Minh Tho Nguyen Molecular structures and properties of the binary clusters containing twelve boron atoms mixed withn lithium atoms, B12Lin withn = 1 –14, were investigated using density functional theory with the TPSSh functional and the 6-311+G(d) basis set. Lithium-ion Batteries and Recall Challenges for Medical Devices
The reduced size, weight and power consumption of lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries has been a boon for medical device manufacturers seeking to create more portable and convenient products. Their implementation allows for medical devices to become smaller and more ergonomic without sacrificing power or performance. Consequently, their popularity has soared in recent years. But the efficiency gains of Li-ion batteries are tempered by the increased safety risks and regulatory concerns the technology poses—especially for medical devices. Multiple viral videos have demonstrated the dangers of products with Li-io...

FDA warns batteries in medical carts associated with fires, explosions
The FDA issued a warning today to healthcare professionals regarding the safety hazards associated with battery-powered mobile medical carts. The federal watchdog said it has received numerous reports of hospital fires and explosions due to overheated equipment. Mobile medical carts, such as crash carts and medication dispensing carts, usually use high capacity lithium or lead acid batteries which last for many hours. “Battery-powered mobile medical carts are used because of their convenience and utility. FDA has received medical device reports of hospital fires and other health hazards associated with batteries used...
