Executive Function as a Strong Predictor of Recovery from Disability in Patients with Acute Stroke: A Preliminary Study
Cognitive impairment impedes stroke rehabilitation. However, it is unclear whether cognitive impairment of specific domains or the degree of severity is more critical to functional recovery in patients with poststroke disability.

Do Physically Active Patients Have Better Functional Outcome after Stroke? A Systematic Review
Stroke is one of the major causes of mortality and, among survivors, disability. Physical activity has a protective effect maybe due to a major control of risk factors, such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and body weight. However, the effect of prestroke physical activity and the poststroke functional outcomes needs clarification.

Ischemic Stroke and Six Genetic Variants in CRP, EPHX2, FGA, and NOTCH3 Genes: A Meta-Analysis
Ischemic stroke (IS) is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide. As genetic heritability for IS is estimated at about 35%-40%, the identification of genetic variants associated with IS risk is of great importance. The main objective of this study was to carry out a meta-analysis for polymorphisms in CRP, EPHX2, FGA, and NOTCH3 genes and the risk for IS.

Hemicraniectomy versus Conservative Treatment in Large Hemispheric Ischemic Stroke Patients: A Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
Several small trials have inconclusively evaluated the effect of hemicraniectomy in reducing death and disability in acute ischemic stroke patients with large hemispheric infarctions. We compared the effects of hemicraniectomy on death and disability with conservative treatment in patients with large hemispheric infarctions.

Prognostic Value of C-Reactive Protein and Homocysteine in Large-Artery Atherosclerotic Stroke: a Prospective Observational Study
Our objective is to investigate whether C-reactive protein (CRP) and homocysteine (Hcy) levels in the acute phase of large-artery atherosclerotic stroke predict long-term functional disability and recurrent vascular events.

Effect of transdermal glyceryl trinitrate, a nitric oxide donor, on global outcome in patients treated within 6 hours of stroke onset
【Background】Glyceryl trinitrate (GTN) is a candidate reperfusion and hypotensive treatment for hyperacute stroke, and improved dependency, death, disability, cognitive impairment, mood disturbance, and quality of life in two trials. However, individual outcomes do not provide a global estimate o f effect.

The JAGUAR Score Predicts 1-Month Disability/Death in Ischemic Stroke Patient Ineligible for Recanalization Therapy
Most available scoring system to predict outcome after acute ischemic stroke (AIS) were established in Western countries. We aimed to develop a simple prediction score of 1-month severe disability/death after onset in AIS patients ineligible for recanalization therapy based on readily and widely obtainable on-admission clinical, laboratory and radiological examinations in Asian developing countries.

Acute Stroke Patients With Mild-to-Moderate Pre-existing Disability Should Be Considered for Thrombolysis Treatment
Thrombolytic therapy in patients with pre-existing disability presenting with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is controversial because of concerns regarding poor outcomes and futility of treatment. We hypothesized that a similar proportion of patients with and without pre-existing disability would return to their premorbid functional status following thrombolysis.

Genome-Wide Expression Profiles for Ischemic Stroke: A Meta-Analysis
Genome-wide expression studies (GWES), using microarray platforms, have allowed a deeper understanding of the molecular factors involved in the pathophysiology of ischemic stroke (IS), one of the main global causes of mortality and disability.

Design and Implementation of Structured Clinical Documentation Support Tools for Treating Stroke Patients
We describe the development of a customized structured clinical documentation “toolkit” that standardizes patient data collection to conform to Best Practices for treating patients with stroke. The toolkit collects patients’ demographic information, relevant score test measures, and captures information on disability, treatment, and outcomes.

Life Expectancy after Stroke Based On Age, Sex, and Rankin Grade of Disability: A Synthesis
Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability in the developed world. The major factor affecting long term survival (other than age) is known to be the severity of disability. Yet to our knowledge there are no studies reporting life expectancies stratified by both age and severity. Remaining life expectancy is a key measure of health.

Effectiveness of Home-based rehabilitation in improving physical function of persons with Stroke and other physical disability: A systematic review of randomized controlled trials
A significant number of people with physical disabilities in the world, especially in most developing countries face a lot of impediments. There is a dearth of literature describing the consensus of effectiveness of home-based rehabilitation programs designed specifically for people living with different types of physical disabilities resulting from stroke, Parkinson's and other musculoskeletal conditions.
