Association between electrocardiographic and echocardiographic atrial abnormalities and prognosis in cryptogenic stroke
The role of atrial fibrillation in cryptogenic stroke (CS) is well known. However, the usefulness of left atrial (LA) electrical and morphological abnormalities to identify more disabling strokes in sinus rhythm patients is less studied. We evaluated the association between electrocardiographic P-wave abnormalities and echocardiographic LA measures with neurological disability in patients with cryptogenic stroke.

Timing of Anticoagulation after Stroke in Patients with Non-Valvular Atrial Fibrillation Assessment of Provider Practices
Optimal timing of oral anticoagulation (TOAC) in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) is unknown. The risk of recurrent ischemic events when treatment is delayed is often weighed against that of hemorrhagic transformation (HT) when anticoagulation is started in the subacute phase, especially in moderate to large infarctions. Despite substantial evidence for the benefit of oral anticoagulation (OAC) in reducing stroke recurrence, current nationally recognized practice guidelines do not provide clear recommendations on the TOAC after AF-related AIS.

Excessive supraventricular ectopic activity and future onset of atrial fibrillation in patients with cryptogenic stroke
Although atrial fibrillation (AF) is a leading preventable cause of ischemic stroke,1,2 after the initial evaluation, approximately 30% of all stroke events are finally characterised as cryptogenic.3,4 However, nowadays with the use of prolonged cardiac rhythm monitoring, studies exist to reveal the existence of silent, subclinical AF in those patients, or even the presence of excessive ectopic atrial activity that may precede it.5,6 In particular, such methods can detect and quantify premature atrial complexes (PACs) and short supraventricular runs (SVRs), which, up until recently, have been considered benign electrophysiological phenomena.

Prevalence and Clinical Correlation of Left Ventricular Systolic Dysfunction in African Americans with Ischemic Stroke
Conclusions: Prevalence of LVSD in AA with IS was 22% in our study. Smoking was a significant modifiable RF associated with systolic dysfunction. A history of smoking and higher age could predict the occurrence of LVSD. There were more large-vessel IS in patients with LVSD.
