Troponin-I Is a Predictor of a Delayed Diagnosis of Atrial Fibrillation in Acute Ischemic Stroke and Transient Ischemic Attack
Prolonged cardiac monitoring detects higher rates of atrial fibrillation (AF) in ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA) but is costly and has practical implications. The use of admission troponin-I (TnI) level to identify patients at high risk of delayed AF detection was investigated.

Adherence to Oral Anticoagulation in Secondary Stroke Prevention—The First Year of Direct Oral Anticoagulants
Patients with ischemic stroke caused by atrial fibrillation (AF) have a high risk of recurrence without adequate secondary prevention with oral anticoagulation (OAC). We investigated adherence to OAC in the first year after introduction of direct oral anticoagulants.

Clinical Outcomes of Persistent and Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation in Patients with Stroke
We compared the clinical outcomes of persistent atrial fibrillation (PeAF) and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) in patients with cardioembolic stroke caused by nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) because the nature of the fibrillation can cause persistent cerebral infarction.

Intravenous Thrombolysis for Acute Ischemic Stroke in a Patient Receiving Rivaroxaban
Rivaroxaban is an oral direct factor Xa inhibitor increasingly used in stroke prevention in nonvascular atrial fibrillation, primary prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolism, and secondary prevention in acute coronary syndromes.

Knowledge Regarding Oral Anticoagulation Therapy among Patients with Stroke and Those at High Risk of Thromboembolic Events
Apart from atrial fibrillation, indications for oral anticoagulation common in our clinical practice include rheumatic heart disease and mechanical heart valve replacement. Evaluation of current patient knowledge regarding oral anticoagulation therapy (OAT) is the first step in improving the quality of anticoagulation therapy and patient care. The aim of the present study was to assess the knowledge regarding OAT among patients with stroke and those at high risk of thromboembolic events in a tertiary care hospital in India.

Pre-admission CHADS, CHADS-VASc, and RCHADS Scores on Severity and Functional Outcome in Acute Ischemic Stroke with Atrial Fibrillation
We examined the association between pre-admission risk scores and severity on admission and functional outcome in acute ischemic stroke with atrial fibrillation (AF).

“Cardioembolic Profile” in Patients with Ischemic Stroke: Data from the Analysis of 1037 Cases
Basing on easily available clinical and instrumental data, we aimed to define an “atrial fibrillation profile” able to discriminate cases of stroke due to atrial fibrillation from cases due to atherothrombosis of large vessels or small-vessel disease.

Low Yield of Mobile Cardiac Outpatient Telemetry after Cryptogenic Stroke in Patients with Extensive Cardiac Imaging
Detection of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) after cryptogenic stroke (CS) or transient ischemic attack ranges from 5% to 24%, but previous studies have had varying definitions of both. We aimed to evaluate the yield of up to 30 days of mobile cardiac outpatient telemetry (MCOT) for this dysrhythmia in CS patients who had undergone extensive cardiac imaging before monitoring.

Protocol for Cerebral Microbleeds During the Non–Vitamin K Antagonist Oral Anticoagulants or Warfarin Therapy in Stroke Patients With Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation (CMB-NOW) Study: Multisite Pilot Trial
Anticoagulants are widely used to prevent recurrence of ischemic stroke in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation, but in some patients, they also cause bleeding, particularly intracranial hemorrhage. One of the independent predictors of intracerebral hemorrhage is the presence of cerebral microbleeds (CMBs); a high incidence of intracerebral hemorrhage is reported in warfarin-treated patients with multiple CMBs. Longitudinal study suggested that the presence of CMBs at baseline is a predictor of new CMBs in warfarin-treated patients.

Secondary Prevention of Stroke with Warfarin in Patients with Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation: Subanalysis of the J-RHYTHM Registry
Prior ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA) is a high risk for thromboembolism in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). To clarify rates of thromboembolic and hemorrhagic events, and target intensities of warfarin for secondary prevention, a subanalysis was performed using data from the J-RHYTHM Registry.

Systemic Thrombolysis for Ischemic Stroke after Antagonizing Dabigatran with Idarucizumab—A Case Report
We here describe our experience of systemic thrombolysis therapy for severe ischemic stroke in a patient taking dabigatran for atrial fibrillation. After administration of the monoclonal antibody fragment idarucizumab, the anticoagulative effects of dabigatran were efficiently antagonized and application of alteplase was safe and feasible in our patient. This case report may illustrate a novel treatment option in the neurological emergency setting.

Predictors of Occult Atrial Fibrillation in One Hundred Seventy-One Patients with Cryptogenic Transient Ischemic Attack and Minor Stroke
Recent randomized studies have shown the potential of prolonged cardiac rhythm monitoring to detect silent paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) in patients with cryptogenic stroke. Our aim was to identify clinical and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) factors that predict the detection of PAF during long-duration rhythm cardiac Holter (LDRCH) monitoring.

Effective ADAPT Thrombectomy in a Patient with Acute Stroke due to Cardiac Papillary Elastofibroma: Histological Thrombus Confirmation
A 75-year-old man with hypertension and atrial fibrillation was admitted to our emergency room with right-sided hemiplegia and complete aphasia (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale [NIHSS] score  = 18). A noncontrast computed tomography scan showed a slight hypodensity in the left insular region and a bright hyperdense sign in the M1 tract of the left middle cerebral artery (MCA). Angio-CT confirmed an occlusion of the M1 tract of the MCA. Magnetic resonance diffusion-weighted imaging/p erfusion-weighted imaging was obtained and revealed a mismatch in the left parietal cortical region.
