Frequency and Predictors of Stroke After Acute Myocardial Infarction: Specific Aspects of In-Hospital and Postdischarge Events Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— The present study describes specific predictors of in-hospital and postdischarge stroke in patients with AMI. It showed a marked increase in the risk of death, both during hospitalization and in the year after AMI. After hospital discharge, stroke remains a rare event and is mostly associated with high cardiovascular risk.

Recurrent Stroke: The Value of the CHA2DS2VASc Score and the Essen Stroke Risk Score in a Nationwide Stroke Cohort Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— In this cohort of non–atrial fibrillation patients with incident ischemic stroke, increasing CHA2DS2VASc score and Essen Stroke Risk Score was associated with increasing risk of recurrent stroke, death, and cardiovascular events. Their discriminatory performance was modest and further refinements are required for clinical application.

Self-Reported Stroke Risk Stratification Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—A simple self-reported questionnaire can be used to identify those at high risk for stroke better than the gold standard FSRF. This instrument can be used clinically to easily identify individuals at high risk for stroke and also scientifically to identify a subpopulation enriched for stroke risk.

Conclusions— Acute stroke in atrial fibrillation patients is associated with high rates of ischemic recurrence and major bleeding at 90 days. This study has observed that high CHA2DS2-VASc score, high National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale, large ischemic lesions, and type of anticoagulant administered each independently led to a greater risk of recurrence and bleedings. Characteristics and Outcomes Among Patients Transferred to a Regional Comprehensive Stroke Center for Tertiary Care Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Despite having more severe strokes on arrival at our hospital, transfer-in patients had similar in-hospital mortality versus front door patients and were more likely to be discharged to rehabilitation. These outcomes lend support to the concept of regionalized stroke care and concentrating patients who are more disabled at more advanced stroke care centers.

Incidence, Trends, and Predictors of Ischemic Stroke 30 Days After an Acute Myocardial Infarction Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— The incidence of ischemic stroke within 30 days of an AMI has decreased during the period 1998 to 2008. This decrease is associated with increased use of acetylsalicylic acid, P2Y12 inhibitors, statins, and percutaneous coronary intervention.

Conclusions— The severe LVDD could be a predictor of stroke with AF, and its frequency was similar between CS and stroke with AF. Incidence, Trends, and Predictors of Ischemic Stroke 1 Year After an Acute Myocardial Infarction Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— The risk of ischemic stroke within a year after myocardial infarction is substantial but has clearly been reduced during the studied time period. The major predictive factors found to correlate well with previous investigations. Reperfusion treatment, thrombocyte aggregation inhibition, and lipid lowering are the main contributors to the observed risk reduction.
