Ischemic stroke complicating thrombolytic therapy with tenecteplase for ST elevation myocardial infarction: two case reports
ConclusionsHemorrhagic stroke is not the only complication of thrombolysis, ischemic stroke can occur even if it is an extremely rare complication. The two cases on which we report shed light on the association between fibrinolytic therapy and ischemic stroke, the pathophysiology of which is not well understood.

Successful intravenous thrombolysis for ischemic stroke after reversal of dabigatran anticoagulation with idarucizumab: a case report
ConclusionsOur case report adds to the evidence that idarucizumab administration is safe in the setting of patients with atrial fibrillation treated with dabigatran who develop acute ischemic stroke requiring thrombolysis.

Successful thrombolytic therapy with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator in ischemic stroke after idarucizumab administration for reversal of dabigatran: a case report
ConclusionsIntravenous thrombolytic therapy with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator after reversal of dabigatran with idarucizumab may be safe and feasible in patients with acute ischemic stroke with lacunar infarct. Furthermore, intravenous thrombolytic therapy with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator could be used in patients in emergency settings until just before the end of the recommended time limit within which it needs to be administered because of the immediate effect of idarucizumab.

Ischemic stroke in the setting of supratherapeutic International Normalized Ratio following coronavirus disease 2019 infection: a case report
ConclusionsThis case report highlights the potential for thromboembolic events, including stroke, in patients with COVID-19 infection, even when receiving therapeutic anticoagulation therapy. Healthcare providers should be vigilant for signs of thrombosis in COVID-19 patients, particularly those with pre-existing risk factors. Further research is necessary to understand the pathophysiology and optimal management of thrombotic complications in COVID-19 patients.

Atrial myxoma with cerebellar signs: a case report
ConclusionAlthough rare, atrial myxoma has to be considered a cause of stroke and other embolic phenomenon causing multiorgan infarctions. Early and timely diagnosis of the condition can prevent further recurrence and inappropriate anticoagulant therapy. It would be pertinent to have echocardiography done in patients who present with a stroke, arrhythmias, and other constitutional symptoms. The tumor once detected must be removed surgically as early as possible, which not only reduces serious thromboembolic complications but can be potentially curative.

Basilar artery occlusion presenting as sudden bilateral deafness: a case report
ConclusionsWhen hearing loss is due to vertebrobasilar occlusive disease, the prognosis is very poor. We suggest that vertebrobasilar stroke be suspected in patients with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss who present with risk factors for stroke such as atrial fibrillation and other neurologic signs.

Multidisciplinary approach and anesthetic management of a surgical cancer patient with methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase deficiency: a case report and review of the literature
Conclusions Neoplastic disease and related surgery followed by the administration of chemotherapeutic drugs alter the hemostatic balance in cancer patients. Those suspected of also having a thrombophilic disease require a thorough laboratory diagnostic workup, including a molecular analysis aimed at identifying the genetic mutation responsible for the hyperhomocysteinemia, as indicated. The case described in this report highlights the importance of a multidisciplinary approach that includes expertise in peri-operative anesthesia, surgery, oncology, and hematology.

Biatrial thrombi resembling myxoma regressed after prolonged anticoagulation in a patient with mitral stenosis: a case report
ConclusionsNoninvasive characterization of cardiac mass is essential in clarifying the diagnosis and directing treatment strategy. Anticoagulation is a feasible treatment when the clinical assessment, risk factors, and imaging findings indicate a diagnosis of thrombi. After prolonged anticoagulation therapy, complete resolution of biatrial thrombi was achievable in our case.

Dissection of the internal carotid artery and stroke after mandibular fractures: a case report and review of the literature
ConclusionsCarotid artery dissection is a rare but life-threatening condition that can develop after trauma to the head and neck. There should be a high index of suspicion in patients with a mechanism of injury that places the internal carotid artery at risk because blunt vascular injury may show delayed onset with no initial symptoms of vascular damage. By implementing an algorithm for early detection and treatment of these injuries, serious brain damage may be avoided.

Calcified amorphous tumor of the heart with mitral annular calcification: a case report
ConclusionsIn the present case, a calcified amorphous tumor arose from mitral annular calcification. A characteristic of mitral annular calcification-related calcified amorphous tumor is its highly mobile nature, with a high risk of stroke or other systemic embolism. Therefore, surgical therapy should be considered for treatment of calcified amorphous tumors.

A serious thrombotic event in a patient with immune thrombocytopenia requiring intravenous immunoglobulin: a case report
ConclusionsWe performed an extensive literature review to determine the possible causes of serious thrombotic events in immune thrombocytopenia between the predictive factors of the disease and intravenous immunoglobulin. Although intravenous immunoglobulin is an effective treatment, thrombotic complications can occur. We emphasize that in patients with atherosclerosis risk factors or thrombophilia, the appropriateness of administering an intravenous immunoglobulin infusion should be carefully evaluated.

Patient with rheumatoid arthritis with deep vein thrombosis presenting as a calf strain: a case report
ConclusionsVenous thromboembolism risk in rheumatoid arthritis is stated as being less recognized as an arterial complication. This is borne out by this patient ’s clinical journey, wherein his youth, fitness, athletic appearance, and onset of symptoms during exercise were said to suggest a diagnosis of a calf strain at a minor injuries unit. Ultrasonography at a different accident and emergency unit later that day ultimately was used to diagnose deep vei n thrombosis.
