Plasma let-7i and miR-15a expression are associated with the effect of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator treatment in acute ischemic stroke patients
Circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) have been reported as diagnosis biomarkers and predictors in acute ischemic stroke (AIS). However, how the expression of circulating miRNAs changes after recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) treatment in AIS patients is still unknown.

Association of platelet-derived microvesicles and their phenotypes with carotid atherosclerosis and recurrent vascular events in patients after ischemic stroke
Platelet-derived microvesicles (pMVs) exhibit procoagulant and proinflammatory properties and play a role in the development and progression of atherosclerosis. The study examined the association between the total number of pMVs and their phenotypes with carotid atherosclerosis and recurrent vascular events (VEs) in patients in the convalescent phase of ischemic stroke (IS).

Cost-effectiveness of warfarin care bundles and novel oral anticoagulants for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation in Thailand
Novel oral anticoagulants (NOACs) and warfarin care bundles (e.g. genotyping, patient self-testing or self-management) are alternatives to usual warfarin care for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). We aim to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of NOACs and warfarin care bundles in patients with AF in a middle-income country, Thailand.

A single-center comparative study of the SWIM technique in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke due to anterior circulation occlusion
Stent retriever (SR) thrombectomy has been established as the standard of care for acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion. However, more effective endovascular treatments are still desired because better revascularization correlates with improved clinical results [1]. The combined use of stent retrieval and direct contact aspiration has been attempted to improve recanalization [2]. The SWIM technique (Solitaire stent retriever in combination with the intracranial support catheter aspiration for mechanical thrombectomy), as a novel treatment method based on the concept of the combination of stent retrieval and ...

Combined prognostic significance of D-dimer level and platelet count in acute ischemic stroke
D-dimer level and platelet count (PC) have been reported separately as significant independent predictors of Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS). Here, we aimed to investigate the combined prognostic value of abnormal D-dimer level and PC as defined for specific in-hospital and long-term outcomes in AIS patients.

Right ventricular stroke distance predicts death and clinical deterioration in patents with pulmonary embolism
The right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) velocity time integral (VTI), an echocardiographic measure of stroke distance, correlates with cardiac index. We sought to determine the prognostic significance of low RVOT VTI on clinical outcomes among patients with acute pulmonary embolism (PE).

Thrombin generation is associated with ischemic stroke at a young age
Understanding the underlying mechanisms in ischemic stroke (IS) in young adults remains challenging. Thrombin activates processes that contribute to the development and progression of arterial diseases. We investigated the association between thrombin generation (TG) and a first IS or transient ischemic attack (TIA) in young adults.

Diverse thrombus composition in thrombectomy stroke patients with longer time to recanalization time
Delayed time to recanalization is associated with reduced recanalization success of mechanical thrombectomy (MT) and thrombolysis in acute ischemic stroke (AIS). The reasons for this are unclear. We hypothesized that alterations in thrombus structure and composition could be responsible for this.

Markers of NET formation and stroke risk in patients with atrial fibrillation: association with a prothrombotic state
Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) formation contributes to thrombosis but its role in atrial fibrillation (AF) is poorly explored. We investigated whether increased circulating NETs markers in relation to a hypercoagulable state can predispose to ischemic stroke in anticoagulated AF patients during long-term follow-up.

Endovascular thrombectomy or bridging therapy in minor ischemic stroke with large vessel occlusion
Whether direct endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) is non-inferior to bridging therapy (intravenous thrombolysis [IVT] followed by EVT) in minor acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusions (AIS-LVO) is not clear. Therefore, this study aimed to assess whether direct EVT is non-inferior to bridging therapy in minor AIS-LVO.

Letter to the Editor Re “Endovascular thrombectomy or bridging therapy in minor ischemic stroke with large vessel occlusion”
We commend Tu et al. on the recent article on comparison of endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) versus bridging therapy (BT) in minor stroke patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO) [1]. Based on retrospective, observational study of 903 patients, the authors conclude non-inferiority of EVT compared to BT in patients presenting within 4.5  h of onset. We have a few questions and comments.

Air pollution impacts on in-hospital case-fatality rate of ischemic stroke patients
A growing body of evidence suggests that air pollution exposure is associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular diseases. Data regarding the impact of long-term air pollution exposure on ischemic stroke mortality are sparse.
