Transcriptomic analysis of the harvested endothelial cells in a swine model of mechanical thrombectomy
ConclusionECs harvested during MT can be cultured and analyzed using single-cell transcriptomic techniques. This analysis can be implemented in clinical practice to study the EC gene expression of comorbidities, such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and metabolic syndrome, in patients suffering from acute ischemic stroke.

Added value of multiphase CTA imaging for thrombus perviousness assessment
ConclusionAssociation between TAI with functional outcome was optimal on arterial-phase CTA such that dynamic CTA imaging has no additional benefits in current thrombus perviousness assessment, thereby suggesting that the delay of contrast arrival at the clot is a key variable for patient functional outcome.

Observer variability of absolute and relative thrombus density measurements in patients with acute ischemic stroke
Conclusion Absolute thrombus density measurement has superior interobserver agreement compared to relative density measurement. Interobserver variation is smaller when multiple ROIs are used. Trained non-expert observers can accurately and reproducibly assess absolute thrombus densities using three ROIs.

Protected stent retriever thrombectomy prevents iatrogenic emboli in new vascular territories
Conclusion Our study demonstrates two things: First, SWI seems to be more sensitive to detect emboli than DWI and DSA and, second, proximal or distal protected stent retriever thrombectomy seems to prevent iatrogenic embolization into new vascular territories during retraction of the thrombus, but not downstream during mobilization of the thrombus. Both techniques should be investigated and refined further.

Distance to thrombus on MR angiography predicts outcome of middle cerebral artery occlusion treated with IV thrombolysis
Conclusions DT on CE-MRA is reliably measurable, correlates inversely with FLAIR-vascular hyperintensities, and predicts outcome in patients with acute MCA occlusion treated with IVT.

Stent-thrombus interaction and the influence of aspiration on mechanical thrombectomy: evaluation of different stent retrievers in a circulation model
Conclusion Distal aspiration with intermediate catheters increases the efficacy of mechanical thrombectomy with stent retrievers significantly. In contrary to earlier suggestions, the interaction between the thrombus and the stent retriever is only superficial, rather than an integration of the thrombus into the retriever. No significant differences between the proven devices could be shown in our model.
