Stroke and Systemic Thromboembolism according to CHA < sub > 2 < /sub > DS < sub > 2 < /sub > -VASc Score in Contemporary Korean Patients with Atrial Fibrillation
CONCLUSION: Contemporary AF patients have a stroke rate about one-fifth that in OAC-naïve AF patients and exhibit different stroke risk factors.STUDY REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT02786095).PMID:35352882 | PMC:PMC8965433 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2022.63.4.317

Determinants and Clinical Outcomes of Extended Dual Antiplatelet Therapy over 3 Years after Drug-Eluting Stent Implantation: A Retrospective Analysis.
CONCLUSION: In patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention, indefinite use of DAPT does not show superior outcomes to those of guideline-DAPT. Major bleeding rates are also similar. PMID: 32608203 [PubMed - in process]

Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis Associated with Dutasteride Use.
Abstract Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is an uncommon cause of stroke that mainly affects young adults with known risk factors of prothrombotic conditions, pregnancy, infection, malignancy, and drugs. Dutasteride is a 5α-reductase inhibitor that is used for benign prostate hypertrophy and androgenetic alopecia. To date, CVT caused by dutasteride use has not been reported. A 25-year-old male presented with headache and diplopia. He had taken 0.5 mg of dutasteride every other day for 9 months to treat alopecia. A headache developed 7 months after he started taking medication, and horizontal diplopia occurred 1 m...

Effects of Coronary Artery Revascularization with a Polymer-Free Biolimus A9-Coated BioFreedom Stent Versus Bypass Surgery before Noncardiac Surgery.
CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated that BioFreedom stenting as a revascularization strategy before major noncardiac surgery might be feasible and safe in selected patients with less severe coronary artery diseases. PMID: 29749130 [PubMed - in process]

Nobori-Biolimus-Eluting Stents versus Resolute Zotarolimus-Eluting Stents in Patients Undergoing Coronary Intervention: A Propensity Score Matching.
CONCLUSION: In this cohort of patients treated with BES or ZES, the rate of MACCEs at 1 year was low and significantly not different between both groups. PMID: 28120558 [PubMed - in process]

Early Experience of Novel Oral Anticoagulants in Catheter Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation: Efficacy and Safety Comparison to Warfarin.
CONCLUSION: Pre-procedural anticoagulation duration was shorter and intra-procedural heparin requirement was higher with NOAC than with uninterrupted warfarin during AF ablation. Although the peri-procedural thromboembolism and bleeding incidences did not differ, minor stroke occurred in two cases in the NOAC group. PMID: 26847285 [PubMed - in process]

The usefulness of the kurashiki prehospital stroke scale in identifying thrombolytic candidates in acute ischemic stroke.
Conclusion: The KPSS is an effective prehospital stroke scale for identifying candidates for IV-tPA and IA-UK, as indicated by excellent correlation with the NIHSS, in the assessment of stroke severity in acute ischemic stroke. PMID: 24532511 [PubMed - in process]
