Predictors of Cholesterol and Lipoprotein(a) Testing in Children with Arterial Ischemic Stroke
The objective of this study is to identify predictors and modifiable barriers to lipid testing in pediatric stroke.Methods: In this cross-sectional analysis, children (28 days-18 years) with arterial ischemic stroke were identified from the International Pediatric Stroke Study registry (January 2003-April 2012). Predicting Daily Use of the Affected Upper Extremity 1 Year after Stroke
The ultimate goal of upper extremity (UE) stroke rehabilitation is for the individual with stroke to return using their arms and hands during daily activities in their own environment. No studies have monitored arm use as individuals with stroke transition from rehabilitation to the home setting. This longitudinal study compared the functional ability and daily use of the affected UE of individuals with stroke between discharge to home and 12 months after stroke and predicted the UE daily use 12 months after stroke.

Use of Stroke-Related Income Supplements and Predictors of Use in a Working-Aged Finnish Ischemic Stroke Cohort
Compared with the direct costs, the indirect costs of stroke may be larger contributors to the socioeconomic burden of stroke, and the need to better understand the indirect costs of stroke is well established. We investigated the indirect costs of stroke according to a novel outcome, the use of stroke-related income supplements, in a Finnish cohort of working-aged patients.

Acute Stroke Registry Malaysia, 2010-2014: Results from the National Neurology Registry
Background: Stroke remains a major health burden worldwide. The incidence and prevalence rates of stroke are decreasing in developed countries, an opposite trend is taking place in the Asia Pacific, where an increasing number of patients are being diagnosed with acute stroke. The results of the present study on acute stroke in multi-ethnic Malaysia will significantly contribute to the global stroke epidemiological data. We aimed to present epidemiological data of stroke including incidence and prevalence rates as well as associated risk factors from a prospective nationwide hospital-based registry from 2010 to 2014.

Atherosclerosis in Trial of Org 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment Subtypes among Young and Middle-Aged Stroke Patients: The Norwegian Stroke in the Young Study
Ischemic stroke patients subtyped as of undetermined cause (SUC) usually outnumber those with determined cause subtypes. Etiological stroke classifications may lead to neglect of parallel, noncausative findings. Atherosclerosis progresses over decades and is associated with high morbidity and mortality in young stroke patients in long-term follow-up studies. We compared the prevalence of carotid atherosclerosis in all TOAST subtypes among young patients with acute ischemic stroke.

Acute Ischemic Stroke with Very Early Clinical Improvement: A National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke Recombinant Tissue Plasminogen Activator Stroke Trials Exploratory Analysis
A high proportion of patients excluded from recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) treatment because of rapid improvement occurring before treatment decision had incomplete recovery. The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) rt-PA Stroke Trials dataset allows for systematic analyses of very early postrandomization improvement (VEPRIM) in stroke severity as a National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score was available for all subjects enrolled in the study at baseline (NIHSSB) and at 2 hours after randomization (NIHSS2H).

Pneumonia is an important risk factor for mortality and morbidity after stroke. The Prestroke Independence, Sex, Age, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (ISAN) score was shown to be a useful tool for predicting stroke-associated pneumonia based on UK multicenter cohort study. We aimed to externally validate the score using data from the China National Stroke Registry (CNSR).

Novel Algorithm to Help Identify Stroke Mimics
Stroke is a major cause of disability in the United States. A portion of patients presenting with stroke-like symptoms in the emergency room who receive tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) do not end up having a true stroke, leading to unnecessary health-care costs. The aim of our study is to identify those patients who have a high likelihood of experiencing a stroke mimic using a novel stroke mimic score and to identify a cutoff point with a high specificity of ruling in stroke mimics.

Self-perceived and Actual Risk of Further Stroke in Patients with Recurrent Stroke or Recurrent Transient Ischemic Attack in Thailand
Background: The correct perception in patients of their future risk of recurrent stroke may lead to changes in behavior and to successful secondary prevention of stroke. The primary aim was to compare patients ’ perceived risk with the actual risk of further stroke. Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out in 2 tertiary hospitals in northeast Thailand. Self-perceived risk of further stroke was assessed by validated questionnaire and categorized as low, medium, or high. Actual risk was calcula ted using Stroke Prognosis Instrument II which classified patients into 3 risk groups: low, medium, and high.

Warm Front Passage on the Previous Day Increased Ischemic Stroke Events
Background and Purpose: The influence of a weather front passage is rarely evaluated on stroke events. We hypothesized that a weather front passage on the stroke onset day or during the previous days may play an important role in the incidence of stroke. Methods: A multicenter retrospective study was conducted to evaluate the frequency of stroke events and their interaction with weather front passages. Consecutive acute stroke patients (n  = 3935, 73.5 ± 12.4 years, 1610 females) who were admitted to 7 stroke hospitals in 3 cities from January 2012 to December 2013 were enrolled in this study.
