Trans ‐ventricular catheter device‐based closure of postmyocardial infarction ventricular septal defect following coronary artery bypass grafting: A staged hybrid approach
AbstractA 66 ‐year‐old woman with a history of hypertension, ischemic stroke, and rheumatoid arthritis presented to the hospital with severe angina pectoris and dyspnea and was diagnosed with myocardial infarction (MI). The Effects of Amino Acids Enriched Del Nido Cardioplegia on Myocardial Leucocyte Accumulation and Ventricular Functions in Patients Undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Surgery
CONCLUSION: Our study findings show that glutamate-aspartate supplemented del Nido cardioplegia significantly decrease myocardial PMNL accumulation with reduced release of biochemical markers, including cardiac troponin-I, TNF-alpha, and Pro-Bnp. Our study results demonstrated that amino acids supplementation in del Nido cardioplegia has some advantages in CABG patients, including the decrease of perioperative myocardial infarction and increase significantly the left ventricular functions including ventricular SVI and CI.PMID:33635267 | DOI:10.1532/hsf.3265

Risks and benefits of concurrent treatment with antiplatelet and anticoagulation therapy in post ‐op bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement patients
ConclusionPatients who underwent bAVR and were discharged on concurrent therapy compared to aspirin only had a significantly increased risk of bleeding without a significant difference in thromboembolic events.

A comparison of clinical characteristics, the in-hospital course, and 12-month prognosis in women and men with chronic coronary syndromes.
Conclusions: Women and men with CCS differ in the incidence of risk factors and revascularization treatments. Men were found to have a higher frequency of 12-month death and composite endpoint follow-up. However, sex is not independent predictor of 12-month outcomes. Developing a cardiac surgery unit in the Caribbean: A reflection
ConclusionFrequent outside visits complemented by training in an overseas center, and transfer of knowledge proved to be an effective strategy to develop a cardiac surgery unit in an emerging country with results comparable to accepted international standards.
