Leveraging Implementation Science for Cardiovascular Health Equity: A Scientific Statement From the American Heart Association
Circulation. 2022 Oct 10:101161CIR0000000000001096. doi: 10.1161/CIR.0000000000001096. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTReducing cardiovascular disease disparities will require a concerted, focused effort to better adopt evidence-based interventions, in particular, those that address social determinants of health, in historically marginalized populations (ie, communities excluded on the basis of social identifiers like race, ethnicity, and social class and subject to inequitable distribution of social, economic, physical, and psychological resources). Cost-effectiveness of a Household Salt Substitution Intervention: Findings From 20,995 Participants of the Salt Substitute and Stroke Study (SSaSS)
Conclusions: Replacing regular salt with salt substitute was a cost-saving intervention for the prevention of stroke and improvement of quality of life amongst the SSaSS participants.PMID:35311346 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.122.059573

Circulating Metabolome and White Matter Hyperintensities in Females and Males
Conclusions: Circulating metabolomic measures, including multiple lipid measures (e.g., lysophosphatidylcholines, hydroxysphingomyelins, low-density lipoprotein size and composition) and non-lipid metabolites (e.g., hydroxyphenylpyruvate, glucuronate) associate with WMH in a general population of middle-aged and older adults. Some metabolomic measures show marked sex specificities and explain sizable proportion of WMH variance.PMID:35050683 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.121.056892

Determinants of Incident Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease Events Among Those With Absent Coronary Artery Calcium: Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis
Conclusions: Current cigarette smoking, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension are independently associated with incident ASCVD over 16-year follow-up among those with CAC=0. Family history of premature ASCVD may be associated with ASCVD risk among women only.PMID:34879218 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.121.056705

Social Vulnerability and Premature Cardiovascular Mortality Among US Counties, 2014 to 2018
CONCLUSIONS: In this analysis, US counties with more social vulnerabilities had higher premature CVD mortality, varied by demographic characteristics and rurality. Focused public health interventions should address the socioeconomic disparities faced by underserved communities to curb the growing burden of premature CVD.PMID:34662161 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.121.054516
