Development and Validation of a Predictive Model for Spontaneous Hemorrhagic Transformation After Ischemic Stroke

Mechanical Thrombectomy With and Without Intravenous Tissue Plasminogen Activator for Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Using Nested Knowledge
Conclusions: Administering tPA prior to MT may improve the rates of recanalization compared to MT alone in tPA-eligible patients being treated for AIS, but a corresponding improvement in functional and safety outcomes was not present in this review. Further studies looking at the role of tPA before mechanical thrombectomy in different cohorts of patients could better clarify the role of tPA in the treatment protocol for AIS.

ConclusionIn this study, new CMBs were found in nearly 30% of patients with AIS on the 7–9 days after rtPA treatment. Baseline CMBs correlated with a higher risk of new CMBs appearing after the rtPA treatment, independently of other factors. Stress Hyperglycemia Does Not Affect Clinical Outcome of Diabetic Patients Receiving Intravenous Thrombolysis for Acute Ischemic Stroke
In conclusion, premorbid diabetic status seems to influence outcome in AIS patients receiving IVT. Indeed, odds of functional dependency, mortality and hemorrhagic complications were significantly increased in patients with more severe stress hyperglycemia only when they were not affected by diabetes.

Prospective pilot study of tirofiban in progressive stroke after intravenous thrombolysis
ConclusionEarly treatment with low-dose tirofiban in AIS patients with neurologic deterioration after IVT potentially improved functional recovery and attenuated neurologic deficits as early as 7 days and did not increase the risk of various hemorrhagic complications. Prognostic value of susceptibility-weighted imaging of prominent veins in acute ischemic stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Association of platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio with outcomes in stroke patients achieving successful recanalization by endovascular thrombectomy

S100b in acute ischemic stroke clots is a biomarker for post-thrombectomy intracranial hemorrhages
ConclusionsHigher S100b expression in AIS clots, higher NIHSS at admission and higher number of passes during thrombectomy are all associated with PTIH. Further investigation of S100b expression in AIS clots by neutrophils, macrophages and T-lymphocytes could provide insight into the role of S100b in thromboinflammation.
