Procedural and Methodological Quality in Preclinical Stroke Research –A Cohort Analysis of the Rat MCAO Model Comparing Periods Before and After the Publication of STAIR/ARRIVE
In conclusion, the frequency of periinterventional monitoring has decreased over time. Some general methodological quality aspects, however, partially have increased. CBF measurement–the gold standard for ischemia verification-was applied rarely. Despite the growing recognition of current guidelines such as STAIR and ARRIVE (both widely approved in 2019) reporting, methods and procedures mostly do not follow these guidelines. These deficits may contribute to the translational failure of preclinical stroke research in search for neuroprotective therapies.

Association of the stress hyperglycemia ratio and clinical outcomes in patients with stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionWith or without diabetes, no matter whether undergoing intravenous thrombolysis or mechanical thrombectomy, higher SHR significantly increased the occurrence of poor outcomes, mortality, neurological deficit, HT, and infectious complications. The recanalization rate was not statistically significant between the two groups. More attention must be paid in clinical practice to SH. Future investigation should focus on the diagnostic value of SHR and the early control of hyperglycemia. A novel nomogram to predict hemorrhagic transformation in ischemic stroke patients after intravenous thrombolysis
ConclusionThis study proposes a novel and practical nomogram based on early infarct signs, NIHSS scores, uric acid, and albumin-to-globulin ratio that can well predict the probability of HT after intravenous thrombolysis in patients with ischemic stroke.

ConclusionsIn AF-stroke patients treated with OAC, the presence of CMBs was associated with an unfavorable composite outcome for both VKAs and DOACs, with a higher risk for recurrent IS than for ICH. Association between the LACE+ index and unplanned 30-day hospital readmissions in hospitalized patients with stroke
ConclusionSubjects in the high LACE+ index category had a significantly greater unplanned 30-day readmission risk after stroke as compared to lower LACE+ risk groups. This supports the validity of the LACE+ scoring system for predicting unplanned readmission in subjects with stroke. Future studies are warranted to determine whether LACE+ score-based risk stratification can be used to devise early interventions to mitigate the risk for unplanned readmission.

Efficacy and safety of endovascular treatment in patients older than 90 with acute ischemic stroke: A retrospective cohort study
ConclusionEVT in nonagenarians demonstrated a high rate of successful revascularization, whilst also showing an increased rate of sICH when compared to octogenarians. Mortality rates showed an age-related correlation. Although further studies are needed to clarify the patient selection algorithm and identify sub-groups of elderly patients that could benefit from EVT, we showed that some patients do benefit from EVT therefore exclusion should not be based on age alone.

Rescue intracranial stenting for acute ischemic stroke after the failure of mechanical thrombectomy: A systematic review, meta-analysis, and trial sequential analysis
ConclusionsOur study showed that rescue stenting was effective and safe for patients with acute ischemia stroke who also had a failed MT, and this result was confirmed in a TSA analysis.

Comparison of a direct aspiration first pass technique vs. stent retriever thrombectomy for the treatment of acute large vessel occlusion stroke in the anterior circulation with atrial fibrillation
ConclusionsCompared with SRT, ADAPT has similar recanalization rate for the treatment of acute large vessel occlusion stroke in the anterior circulation with atrial fibrillation. However, ADAPT might be more effective in terms of shorter puncture to recanalization time and higher first pass success recanalization rate. Further studies are needed for confirming our results.

ConclusionsThe XGBoost model accurately predicted 28-day all-cause in-hospital mortality among hypertensive ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke patients admitted to the ICU. The SHAP method can provide explicit explanations of personalized risk prediction, which can aid physicians in understanding the model.
