Proteomics-Based Approach to Identify Novel Blood Biomarker Candidates for Differentiating Intracerebral Hemorrhage From Ischemic Stroke —A Pilot Study
Discussion: In this exploratory proteomics-based pilot study, nine candidate biomarkers for differentiation of IS and ICH were identified. The proteins belong to the immune system, the coagulation cascade, and the apoptosis system, respectively. Further investigations in larger cohorts of patients with stroke using additional biochemical analysis methods, such as ELISA or Western Blotting are now necessary to validate these markers, and to characterize diagnostic accuracy with regard to the development of a point-of-care-system for use in resource-limited areas.

Predictors and long-term outcome of intracranial hemorrhage after thrombolytic therapy for acute ischemic stroke —A prospective single-center study
DiscussionOlder age, higher NIHSS, large vessel occlusion, and intra-arterial thrombolysis may correlate with ICH. The unfavorable outcome is more common in patients with ICH. Precise scoring of post-thrombolysis bleeding might be a useful tool in the evaluation of the patient's prognosis. Our findings may help to identify predictors and estimate the prognosis of ICH in patients with AIS treated with rt-PA.

Prognostic Value of Various Hemostasis Parameters and Neurophysiological Examinations in Spontaneous Intracerebral Hemorrhage: The IRONHEART Study Protocol
Discussion: If associations between outcomes and the investigated parameters (hemostasis and neurophysiological examinations) are confirmed, results might aid prognosis assessment in this subtype of stroke with particularly high mortality. Improving clinical grading systems on ICH severity and outcomes by including the investigated parameters could help to better guide the management of these patients in the future.

Mechanical Thrombectomy in Isolated Occlusion of the Proximal Posterior Cerebral Artery
Discussion: EVT in isolated PCAO appears safe and feasible. Positive effects on clinical outcome are primarily on ENI but also depend on the initial stroke severity. Further prospective or randomized studies are needed to better describe the potential long-term clinical benefits of EVT for PCAO as compared with best medical management.
