Cerebrovascular Accidents During Mechanical Circulatory Support Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—Stroke is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients on LVAD support. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease increases the risk of ischemic stroke, whereas dialysis may increase the risk of hemorrhagic stroke. Although any stroke increases mortality, post-LVAD hemorrhagic stroke was associated with higher mortality compared with ischemic stroke.

Combining Growth Factor and Bone Marrow Cell Therapy Induces Bleeding and Alters Immune Response After Stroke in Mice Basic Sciences
Conclusions— Our results provide new insights into both BMC-based therapies and immune cell biology and help to understand potential adverse and unexpected side effects.

Cerebral Microbleeds Predict Intracerebral Hemorrhage in Hemodialysis Patients Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— This study showed that the presence of CMBs was an independent and strong predictor of intracerebral hemorrhage in stroke-free hemodialysis patients, indicating that hemodialysis patients with CMBs should be carefully monitored for future onset of intracerebral hemorrhage.

Mesenchymal Stem Cells Prevent Hydrocephalus After Severe Intraventricular Hemorrhage Basic Sciences
Conclusions— Intraventricular transplantation of umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells significantly attenuated the posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus and brain injury after IVH. This neuroprotective mechanism appears to be mediated by the anti-inflammatory effects of these cells.

Endoglin Deficiency in Bone Marrow is Sufficient to Cause Cerebrovascular Dysplasia in the Adult Mouse After Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Stimulation Brief Reports
Conclusions— Endoglin-deficient BMDCs are sufficient for VEGF to induce vascular dysplasia in the adult mouse brain. Our data support a previously unrecognized role of BM in the development of cerebrovascular malformations.
