Dabigatran etexilate for secondary stroke prevention: the first year experience from a multicenter short-term registry.
DISCUSSION: Our pilot data indicate that dabigatran appears to be safe for secondary stroke prevention during the first year of implementation of this therapy. However, high cost may limit the long-term treatment of AF patients with dabigatran, leading to early discontinuation. PMID: 24790645 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Machine learning prediction of symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage after stroke thrombolysis: a cross-cultural validation in Caucasian and Han Chinese cohort
CONCLUSION: The established SVM model is feasible for predicting the risk of sICH after thrombolysis quickly and efficiently in both Caucasian and Han Chinese cohort.PMID:36225969 | PMC:PMC9549180 | DOI:10.1177/17562864221129380

Intravenous thrombolysis in acute ischemic stroke after antagonization of unfractionated heparin with protamine: case series and systematic review of literature
CONCLUSION: IVT after heparin antagonization with protamine seems to be safe and, prospectively, may extend the number of AIS patients who can benefit from reperfusion treatment using IVT. Further prospective registry trials would be helpful to further investigate the clinical applicability of heparin antagonization.PMID:36710724 | PMC:PMC9880584 | DOI:10.1177/17562864221149249

Intravenous thrombolysis in ischemic stroke patients with a prior intracranial hemorrhage: a meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: The results of this study indicated that prior history of ICrH does not increase the risk of sHT post-IVT, but it is associated with a higher risk of death and poor functional outcomes in 90 days.PMID:35126671 | PMC:PMC8808019 | DOI:10.1177/17562864221074144

Impact of diabetes on clinical and safety outcomes in acute ischemic stroke patients receiving reperfusion therapy: A meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Our meta-analysis demonstrates that diabetes is significantly associated with poor functional outcome, increased mortality and poor postprocedural safety outcomes, including sICH and HT.PMID:35212489 | DOI:10.17219/acem/146273

Comparative efficacy and safety of various mechanical thrombectomy strategies for patients with acute ischemic stroke: a Bayesian network meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Our results indicated that, with the exception of functional outcome, combined treatment might be the outstanding strategy. Apart from subarachnoid hemorrhage, all three mechanical thrombectomy strategies proved better strategies than standard medical treatment.REGISTRATION: PROSPERO (CRD42022351878).PMID:37384114 | PMC:PMC10293521 | DOI:10.1177/17562864231181180

Dual anti-platelet therapy for secondary prevention in intracranial atherosclerotic disease: a network meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: DAPT is more effective than SAPT for secondary stroke prevention in patients with symptomatic ICAS, without increasing the risk of haemorrhage.REGISTRATION: Prospero/CRD42019140033.PMID:35958039 | PMC:PMC9358568 | DOI:10.1177/17562864221114716

International beliefs and head positioning practices in patients with spontaneous hyperacute intracerebral hemorrhage
CONCLUSION: Interdisciplinary providers remain unconvinced by HeadPoST results that head position does not matter in hyperacute ICH. Future trials examining the proximal effects of head positioning on clinical stability in hyperacute ICH are warranted.PMID:36993938 | PMC:PMC10041589 | DOI:10.1177/17562864231161162

Direct oral anticoagulation in atrial fibrillation and heart valve surgery-a meta-analysis and systematic review
CONCLUSION: Cumulative data analysis reveals that DOAC may provide an effective and safe alternative to VKA in patients with AF after surgically implanted bioprosthetic heart valves or repair with AF. Within a relatively heterogeneous study population, this meta-analysis shows a risk reduction of major bleedings and thromboembolic stroke or systemic embolisms for DOAC.PMID:35481366 | DOI:10.1177/17539447221093963
