DiscussionUsing national and international  audit data as an institutional benchmark provides a standard with which a service can be compared to highlight areas for improvement. We identified mood screening, swallow screening, thrombectomy rates, length of stay and time to neuroimaging as key areas for development in our centre. We are cur rently completing a process map to determine cause, effect, and solutions, and we will implement change using PDSA methodology as per SQUIRE 2.0 guidelines. Moyamoya disease and moyamoya syndrome in Ireland: patient demographics, mode of presentation and outcomes of EC-IC bypass surgery
ConclusionsMoyamoya is rare but occurs in Caucasians in Ireland. It most commonly presents with ischaemic symptoms. Surgical intervention in the form of direct and indirect bypass is an effective treatment in the majority of cases.

A systematic review of the clinical effectiveness of emergency endovascular therapy using mechanical thrombectomy in acute ischaemic stroke: implications for service delivery
ConclusionsThe trials published most recently have acted as a ‘watershed’ for mechanical thrombectomy, and while there are significant caveats, the data suggests that mechanical thrombectomy needs to be factored into the planning and delivery of services for the management of patients with acute ischaemic stroke in Ireland.

Thrombolysis for stroke in Ireland: increasing access and maintaining safety in a challenging environment
ConclusionStroke thrombolysis is being effectively and safely provided in acute stroke services in Ireland despite regular involvement of non-specialist staff. There is still potential to improve thrombolysis rate.
