Efficacy of New Measures Saving Time in Acute Stroke Management: A Quantified Analysis
Time to treatment remains the most important factor in acute ischemic stroke prognosis. We quantified the effect of new interventions reducing in-hospital delays in acute stroke management and assessed its repercussion on door-to-imaging (DTI), imaging-to-needle (ITN), and door-to-needle (DTN) times.

The HOPES Registry – Houston Methodist Hospital Outcomes-based Prospective Endpoints in Stroke
We present a single institution registry with the novel feature of 90-day outcome assessments on all hospitalized acute stroke patients, inclusive of every patient with a primary discharge diagnosis of transient ischemic attack (TIA), acute ischemic stroke (AIS), nontraumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), and intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH).

Predictive Factors of Swallowing Disorders and Bronchopneumonia in Acute Ischemic Stroke
Background: In stroke patients, early complications such as swallowing disorders (SD) and bronchopneumonia (BP) are frequent and may worsen outcome. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of SD in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and the risk of BP, as well as to identify factors associated with these conditions. Methods: We retrospectively studied all AISs over a 12-month period in a single-center registry. We determined the frequency of SD in the first 7 days and of BP over the entire hospital stay.

Contribution of Onset-to-Alarm Time to Prehospital Delay in Patients with Ischemic Stroke
Background: Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability. Tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) improves the clinical outcome when administered properly; however, the most important factor to receive tPA is time. The main reason for late hospital arrival is a considerable delay in onset-to-alarm time (OAT), comprising more than 50% of the onset-to-door time. Aims: To identify the factors associated with a delay in OAT and evaluate its contribution to onset-to-door time in ischemic stroke patients.

Early Stroke Recognition and Time-based Emergency Care Performance Metrics for Intracerebral Hemorrhage
Background and Aim: Performance measures have been extensively studied for acute ischemic stroke, leading to guideline-established benchmarks. Factors influencing care efficiency for intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) are not well delineated. We sought to identify factors associated with early recognition of ICH and to assess the association between early recognition and completion of emergency care tasks. Methods: Consecutive patients with spontaneous ICH were enrolled in an observational cohort study conducted from 2009 to 2017 at an urban comprehensive stroke center, excluding patient transferred from other hospitals.

Mechanical Thrombectomy for Patients with In-Hospital Ischemic Stroke: A Case-Control Study
Background and Aim: Patients with in-hospital acute ischemic stroke (AIS) have, in general, worse outcomes compared to those presenting from the community, partly attributed to the numerous contraindications to intravenous thrombolysis. We aimed to identify and analyze a group of patients with in-hospital AIS who remain suitable candidates for acute endovascular therapies. Methods: A retrospective 6-year data analysis was conducted in patients evaluated through the in-hospital stroke alert protocol in a single tertiary care university hospital to identify those with in-hospital AIS due to acute intracranial large vessel occlusion (ILVO).
