Apolipoprotein B, Residual Cardiovascular Risk After Acute Coronary Syndrome, and Effects of Alirocumab
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with recent acute coronary syndrome and elevated atherogenic lipoproteins, MACEs increased across baseline apoB strata. Alirocumab reduced MACEs across all strata of baseline apoB, with larger absolute reductions in patients with higher baseline levels. Lower achieved apoB was associated with lower risk of MACEs, even after accounting for achieved low-density lipoprotein cholesterol or non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, indicating that apoB provides incremental information. Clinical Efficacy and Safety of Alirocumab after Acute Coronary Syndrome According to Achieved Level of Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol: A Propensity Score-Matched Analysis of the ODYSSEY OUTCOMES Trial.
Conclusions: After accounting for differences in baseline characteristics and adherence, patients treated with alirocumab who achieved LDL-C levels <25 mg/dL did not appear to derive further reduction in the risk of MACE compared to those who achieved LDL-C levels of 25-50 mg/dL. Temporal Changes in Secondary Prevention and Cardiovascular Outcomes after Revascularization for Peripheral Arterial Disease in Denmark: A Nationwide Cohort Study.

Association Between Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors with Cardiovascular Events and Atherosclerotic Plaque.
Conclusions: Cardiovascular events were higher after initiation of ICIs, potentially mediated by accelerated progression of atherosclerosis. Optimization of cardiovascular risk factors and increased awareness of cardiovascular risk, prior to, during and after treatment, should be considered among patients on an ICI. Carotid Atherosclerosis Evolution when Targeting a Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol Concentration < 70 mg/dL after an Ischemic Stroke of Atherosclerotic Origin.
Conclusions: In patients with ischemic stroke and atherosclerosis, an LDL-C target of <70 mg/dL (1.8 mmol/L) did not reduce the incidence of new carotid plaques but produced significantly greater regression of carotid atherosclerosis than an LDL-C target of 90 to 110 mg/dL. Impact of ADCY9 Genotype on Response to Anacetrapib.
CONCLUSIONS: The REVEAL trial is the single largest study to date evaluating the ADCY9 pharmacogenetic interaction. It provides no support for the hypothesis that ADCY9 genotype is materially relevant to the clinical effects of the CETP inhibitor anacetrapib. The ongoing dal-GenE study will provide direct evidence as to whether there is any specific pharmacogenetic interaction with dalcetrapib.
