Oral Anticoagulation in Very Elderly Patients with Atrial Fibrillation - A Nationwide Cohort Study.
Conclusions -Among AF patients age ≥90 years, warfarin was associated with a lower risk of ischemic stroke and positive NCB. Compared to warfarin, NOACs were associated with a lower risk of ICH. Thus, OACs may still be considered as thromboprophylaxis for elderly patients with NOACs being as the more favorable choice. PMID: 29490992 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

The Use of Oral Anticoagulants for Stroke Prevention in Atrial Fibrillation Patients with History of Intra-Cranial Hemorrhage.
CONCLUSIONS: -Warfarin use may be beneficial for AF patients with prior ICH having a CHA2DS2-VASc score ≥6. Whether the use of non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) could lower the threshold for treatment deserves further study. PMID: 26969761 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Risks of Death and Stroke in Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis With New-Onset Atrial Fibrillation: A Competing-Risk Analysis of a Nationwide Cohort.
CONCLUSIONS: -The risk of stroke was only modestly higher in patients undergoing hemodialysis with new-onset AF than in those without AF, and it became insignificant when accounting for the competing risk of in-hospital death. PMID: 26680239 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Risk of Intracranial Hemorrhage from Statin Use in Asians: A Nationwide Cohort Study.
CONCLUSIONS: -Generally, no association was observed between cumulative statin use and risk of ICH among subjects without a prior history of stroke. An increased risk was identified among the non-hypertensive cohort, but this finding should be interpreted with caution. PMID: 25858194 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Long-Term Clinical Outcome of Major Adverse Cardiac Events in Survivors of Infectious Endocarditis: A Nationwide Population-Based Study.
CONCLUSIONS: -Despite treatment, the risk of long-term major adverse cardiac events was substantially increased in IE survivors. PMID: 25223982 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
