Effects of hypertension in patients receiving mechanical thrombectomy: A meta-analysis
Conclusions: The present study confirms that hypertension and high blood pressure are associated with a poor outcome at 3 months after MT in AIS patients. However, the causal relationship between hypertension and a poor outcome remains undetermined, and further investigations are required to ascertain whether AIS patients receiving MT could benefit from intensive blood pressure control.

Association of clopidogrel high on-treatment reactivity with clinical outcomes and gene polymorphism in acute ischemic stroke patients: An observational study
High on-treatment platelet reactivity (HTPR) was suggested to be better correlated with recurrent ischemic events as compared with gene polymorphism, whereas most of the results were from white populations with acute coronary disease. The evidence is relatively limited regarding HTPR and its genetic determinants in predicting clinical outcomes of stroke among Chinese-Han patients. A prospective study including 131 Chinese-Han stroke patients treated with clopidogrel was analyzed. Platelet function was assessed by light transmission aggregometry (LTA)- adenosine diphosphate (ADP) method. HTPR was defined as 5 μM ADP ind...

Is intravenous thrombolysis safe for acute ischemic stroke patients taking warfarin with INR 1.9?: A case report
Conclusion: The clinical guidelines are still the main reference for guiding clinical practice, and the main thrombolytic standards and contraindications for treatment still need to be conformed. On this basis, for individualized patients, clinicians must accurately judge the cause of acute stroke, to make optimal choice, reduce disability and mortality, and improve quality of life of patients.

Comparison between thromboelastography and the conventional coagulation test in detecting effects of antiplatelet agents after endovascular treatments in acute ischemic stroke patients: A STROBE-compliant study
This study was designed to provide initial data to compare thromboelastography (TEG) with the conventional coagulation test (CCT) to analyze the coagulation function of antiplatelet drugs in such patients. The present retrospective cohort study included 240 patients who received endovascular therapy from September 2012 to December 2017. The baseline and clinical characteristics of these patients were collected with respect to TEG (parameters: R, K, maximal amplitude (MA), and α angle) and CCT (parameters: PT, activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), fibrinogen (FIB), international normalized ratio (INR), and platele...

Carotid plaque magnetic resonance imaging and recurrent stroke risk: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusions: The presence of intraplaque hemorrhage, lipid-rich necrotic core, and thinning/rupture of the fibrous cap on MRI of carotid plaque are strong predictors of recurrent stroke events. However, due to the lack of original studies, larger cohort studies are warranted.

The correlation between recurrent risk and CYP2C19 gene polymorphisms in patients with ischemic stroke treated with clopidogrel for prevention
Conclusion: For patients with IS treated with clopidogrel regularly for secondary prevention, poor metabolizer, and intermediate metabolizer patients had higher risk of recurrent stroke comparing with extensive metabolize ones. Carrying CYP2C19 LOF allele is an independent risk factor of stroke recurrence in patients with IS.

The association between homocysteine and ischemic stroke subtypes in Chinese: A meta-analysis
This study; therefore, aimed to evaluate whether elevated homocysteine levels are associated with the TOAST subtypes of ischemic stroke using a meta-analysis. Materials and methods: A systematic search of electronic databases were conducted for studies reporting homocysteine levels in ischemic stroke and the TOAST of ischemic stroke to April 18, 2018. The data were extracted after the application of inclusion and exclusion criteria. All the data were analyzed using Stata software version 9.0 (Stata Corp LP, College Station, TX). The standardized mean difference (SMD) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were used to compare...

r-tPA with loading dose of clopidogrel and aspirin therapies for capsular warning syndrome attributed to middle cerebral artery atherosclerotic stenosis: A CARE-compliant case report
Rationale: The capsular warning syndrome (CWS) is a rare and special type of transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) syndrome. The pathophysiology of CWS is very complicate, and intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS) is rare cause. Moreover, the effective and standard therapy has not yet been established. Patient concerns: A 47-year-old man experienced repeated and exacerbated TIAs of right hemiparesis and dysarthria. Fourteen hours after the first episode of TIAs, he developed more severe right hemiparesis and dysarthria, the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score was 12 points, and did not recover i...

Visinin-like protein-1 level is associated with short-term functional outcome of acute ischemic stroke: A prospective cohort study
Stroke is a serious disease that can lead to disability and death in adults, and the prediction of functional outcome is important in the management of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Blood biomarker is a promising technique, for the measurement is fast, cheap and convenient. Visinin-like protein-1 (VILIP-1) is a classic stroke biomarker, thus we tried to investigate the predictive value of VILIP-1 for early functional outcomes of AIS. A total of 70 AIS patients were enrolled in our study. Venous blood samples of all patients were taken at day 3 after admission to the stroke unit, and levels of serum VILIP-1 were analyzed by...
