Neurological complications of COVID-19: a systematic review.
CONCLUSIONS: Considering the possibility of neurological involvement in patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection can result in earlier diagnosis and treatment; otherwise permanent, irreversible sequelae and even death may follow. More comprehensive studies may indicate that until the end of the present pandemic, young adults with unexplained and unexpected stroke as well as patients with newly diagnosed Guillain-Barré syndrome should be tested for SARS-CoV-2 infection. Short-term lithium treatment protects the brain against ischemia-reperfusion injury by enhancing the neuroplasticity of cortical neurons
CONCLUSION: Our study confirmed that neuroplasticity in cortical neurons is crucial for lithium-induced brain function 50 recovery after brain ischemia.PMID:34396932 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2021.1965427

Which is responsible for aphasia by subcortical lesions? Subcortical lesions or the cortical hypoperfusion?
This study showed that aphasia to be more common in cases with cortical hypoperfusion in the dominant hemisphere than in cases without hypoperfusion. Our results provide evidence that direct effect of the lesion in the basal ganglia on the development of aphasia is doubtful.PMID:35984244 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2022.2112369

CircNUFIP2 overexpression induces GDF11 to ameliorate oxygen-glucose deprivation-induced hippocampal neuron cell apoptosis and oxidative stress after cerebral ischemia
Conclusion CircNUFIP2 overexpression protected neuron cells against cerebral ischemia-induced damage, at least in part, by the miR-1224-5p/GDF11 pathway, providing a possible target for the therapy of cerebral ischemic stroke.PMID:36328251 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2022.2123172
