Effect of stress hyperglycemia and intensive rehabilitation therapy in non ‐diabetic hemorrhagic stroke: Korean Stroke Cohort for Functioning and Rehabilitation
ConclusionsStress hyperglycemia affects the long‐term prognosis of non‐diabetic hemorrhagic stroke patients. Among stress hyperglycemia patients, intensive rehabilitation can enhance functional improvement after stroke.

Epidemiology of classical risk factors in stroke patients in the Middle East
The Middle East (ME) is an ethnically and economically diverse region. A systematic review of all stroke studies conducted in the ME was carried out, with the aim of determining the prevalence of classic vascular risk factors (CRFs) across this region. Additionally, the prevalence of CRFs in the ME was compared to that of a US cohort. Prospective and retrospective ME stroke studies published from 1994 to 2014 were searched for that specifically reported on the prevalence of CRFs. Intracerebral hemorrhage at young age: long‐term prognosis
ConclusionsOf every 10 survivors of acute phase ICH at a young age, one died within 10 years after onset, male sex and diabetes being associated with increased mortality. Half the survivors did not achieve a favorable functional outcome, which was predicted by increasing age, initial stroke severity and intraventricular hemorrhage.

Increased risk of ischaemic stroke among patients with multiple sclerosis

Tissue‐factor‐bearing microparticles (MPs‐TF) in patients with acute ischaemic stroke: the influence of stroke treatment on MPs‐TF generation
ConclusionOur findings suggest that patients with acute ischaemic stroke have increased generation of MPs‐TF. Nevertheless, further studies are needed in order to confirm such inference.

Prevalence of renal dysfunction in ischaemic stroke and transient ischaemic attack patients with or without atrial fibrillation
ConclusionsRenal dysfunction is far more common in stroke patients than in the general population and more common in AF‐related stroke. These findings may have implications for the choice of anticoagulants.

Increased risk of ischaemic stroke amongst patients with chronic osteomyelitis: a population‐based cohort study in Taiwan
ConclusionsThis is the first report linking COM to an increased risk of developing stroke. Results suggest that COM is a significant stroke risk factor and call for closer attention to this group of patients for more rigorous stroke prevention, especially in the younger age group.

Apolipoprotein E polymorphisms and ischaemic stroke: a two‐center Greek study
ConclusionsOur study was indicative of a protective role of the ε3/ε3 genotype, especially in female patients. However, risk factors such as age, BMI, hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus and smoking have a strong impact on stroke occurrence and outweigh the protective role of the ε3/ε3 genotype.

Diabetes and thrombolysis for acute stroke: a clear benefit for diabetics

Prediction of hemorrhagic transformation in acute ischaemic stroke by micro‐ and macroalbuminuria after intravenous thrombolysis
ConclusionIn conclusion, the results of this study suggest that the presence of micro‐ and macroalbuminuria after IVT could be a predictor of severe HT in patients with acute ischaemic stroke.
