Employment status, social function decline and caregiver burden among stroke survivors. A South Indian study
Conclusions: Loss of occupation among stroke survivors is high. The decline in social function among stroke survivors and caregivers was significant. Even though functional disability contributed to employment loss and social function decline among stroke survivors, it did not have a significant impact on caregiver burden.

Depression, activities of daily living and quality of life in patients with stroke
Conclusion: ADL have a strong relationship with both level of depression and QOL in patients with stroke. It appears that motivating to perform ADL may enhance QOL. Further investigation with a larger sample size is required to better understand the causal relationship of these factors.

Quality of life and psychological impact in adult patients with hemorrhagic moyamoya disease who received no surgical revascularization
Conclusions: Our data revealed that poor education background or introverted personality type may be attributed to the development of depression in Chinese adult hemorrhagic MMD patients who received no surgical revascularization associated with QoL impairment. The treatment decisions for these patients should consider the possible improvement of QoL.

Early blood-based microbiological testing is ineffective in severe stroke patients
Conclusions: Very early bacteremia seems not to be a feature of severe stroke in patients despite signs of early immune system depression and frequent subsequent evidence of infection including pneumonia. Consequently our data suggests, that routine early blood-based standard or molecular microbiological assays do not reveal bacteremia, this finding questions the usefulness of their routine performance in this context.

Cognitive impairment and hypothymia in post stroke patients
Abstract: 129 patients aged 18–84 in early rehabilitation period of the first hemispheric ischemic stroke and 48 patients with cerebrovascular disorders without stroke in anamnesis were observed. Cognitive functions (MMSE, FAB, Clock Drawing Test, the 5-Word test, attention assessment, Semantic Verbal Fluency test) and emotional sphere (CES-D) were studied.
