Hemodynamic changes after infusion of intravenous lipid emulsion to treat refractory hypotension caused by glyphosate-surfactant herbicide poisoning: A case report
Rationale: Glyphosate-surfactant herbicides (GlySH) are non-selective herbicides that are extensively used worldwide. A recent case report on GlySH poisoning suggested successful resuscitation upon using intravenous lipid emulsion (ILE) for refractory hypotension. The efficacy of ILE in GlySH poisoning remains unproven due to a lack of randomized controlled trials, and further evidence is required to clarify the mechanism by which ILE may reverse hypotension in GlySH poisoning. Patient concerns: A 46-year-old man presented to the emergency department 45 min following ingestion of approximately 200 cc of GlySH. On ...

Meta-Analysis of the Effects of Xingnaojing Injection on Consciousness Disturbance
Abstract: Xingnaojing (XNJ) is commonly extracted from Angongniuhuang, a classic Chinese emergency prescription, and widely used in the treatment of nervous system disorders including consciousness disturbance in China. To evaluate the beneficial and adverse effects of XNJ injection, on consciousness disturbance. Seven major electronic databases were searched to retrieve randomized controlled trials designed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of XNJ alone or combined with Western medicine in treating consciousness disturbance caused by conditions such as high fever, poisoning, and stroke. The methodological quality of the...

Organophosphate Poisoning and Subsequent Acute Kidney Injury Risk: A Nationwide Population-Based Cohort Study
Abstract: Small numbers of the papers have studied the association between organophosphate (OP) poisoning and the subsequent acute kidney injury (AKI). Therefore, we used the National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD) to study whether patients with OP poisoning are associated with a higher risk to have subsequent AKI. The retrospective cohort study comprised patients aged ≥20 years with OP poisoning and hospitalized diagnosis during 2000–2011 (N = 8924). Each OP poisoning patient was frequency-matched to 4 control patients based on age, sex, index year, and comorbidities of diabetes, hypertension, hyperlip...
