One-Year Outcome After Percutaneous Coronary Intervention for Acute Coronary Syndrome - An Analysis of 20,042 Patients From a Japanese Nationwide Registry
CONCLUSIONS: The results from our ACS hospital survivor PCI database suggest the need to improve care for the acute myocardial infarction population to lessen the burden of 30-day mortality due to ACS, heart failure, and sudden cardiac death, as well as 1-year ischemic stroke and heart failure events.PMID:34162778 | DOI:10.1253/circj.CJ-21-0098

Causes of Death in Elderly Patients With Non-Valvular Atrial Fibrillation - Results From the ANAFIE Registry
CONCLUSIONS: This subanalysis described the mortality according to causes of death of Japanese elderly NVAF patients in the DOAC era. Our results imply that a more holistic approach to comorbid conditions and stroke prevention are required in these patients.PMID:36653127 | DOI:10.1253/circj.CJ-22-0614

High-Sensitivity Cardiac Troponin T Predicts Non-Cardiac Mortality in Heart Failure.
Conclusions: Hs-TnT is an independent predictor not only of cardiac mortality, but also of non-cardiac mortality in HF patients. PMID: 24451686 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Emerging Role of MicroRNAs in Cardiovascular Diseases.
Abstract Despite the recent progress in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, these are still a major source of morbidity and mortality worldwide. For this reason, a large research effort was directed to the identification of the underlying pathophysiological aspects of cardiovascular diseases. Nevertheless, many mechanisms still need to be more deeply investigated, limiting the development of efficient diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for a relevant number of patients. Recently, microRNAs (miRs) emerged as powerful regulators of biological processes, offering a further opportunity to better...

Hyperuricemia and Transesophageal Echocardiographic Thromboembolic Risk in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation at Clinically Low-Intermediate Risk.
Conclusions: The serum UA level was associated with thromboembolic risk on TEE in patients with nonvalvular AF at low-intermediate risk stratified by clinical risk factors. PMID: 24805815 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Preoperative Tissue Doppler Imaging-Derived Atrial Conduction Time Can Predict Postoperative Atrial Fibrillation in Patients Undergoing Aortic Valve Replacement for Aortic Valve Stenosis.
Conclusions:The PA-TDI duration was an independent predictor of POAF after AVR for AS. Patients with PA-TDI duration >147 ms should be considered high risk and treated appropriately to improve outcomes. PMID: 25030299 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Bare-Metal vs. Drug-Eluting Stents in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.
Conclusions:In real-world patients with AF undergoing PCI, DES use was associated with outcomes comparable to those with BMS without excess bleeding complications. More ST was seen in BMS-treated patients. PMID: 25298168 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
