Long-term outcomes of delayed percutaneous coronary intervention for patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction: A propensity score-matched retrospective study
The best time window of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is within 12 hours for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). However, there is limited evidence about the proper time of PCI for delayed STEMI patients. From June 2014 to June 2015, a total of 268 patients receiving PCI with second-generation drug-eluting stent in a Chinese hospital after 3 days of STEMI onset were enrolled in this retrospective study, who were divided into the early group (3–14 days) and the late group (>14 days). A propensity score match was conducted to reduce the baseline difference. The primary endpoint of all-ca...

Association of total cholesterol and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in patients with follicular thyroid cancer: A real-world study from Chinese populations
The association between serum total cholesterol (TC) level and incident atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) in patients with follicular thyroid cancer postthyroidectomy is unknown. This was a retrospective study and patients (n = 384) were divided into low and high TC groups according to the median TC level. Incidence of composite ASCVD (myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, and cardiovascular death) was compared between these 2 groups and factors contributing to the association of TC and ASCVD were evaluated. Patients in the high TC group were older and more likely to have diabetes and have higher C...

Analysis of individualized antiplatelet therapy for patients of acute coronary syndrome after percutaneous coronary intervention under the guidance of platelet function: A one-center retrospective cohort study
There is controversy in clinical application of antiplatelet drugs by monitoring platelet function. Therefore, we explored whether early and dynamic medication could bring better clinical outcomes for patients under the guidance of platelet function tests (PFT). In this retrospective cohort study, we analyzed the prognostic events of 1550 patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) at Tianjin People's Hospital in China. They received dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) from January 2017 to December 2018. The primary endpoint was based on the Bleeding Academic Research Consorti...

Prevalence and association of medication nonadherence with major adverse cardiovascular events in patients with myocardial infarction
Current study was to evaluate the prevalence of guideline recommended medications adherence in myocardial infarction (MI) patients postpercutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and the association of medication nonadherence and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs). MI patients who underwent PCI in the last 12 months were enrolled. Demographic and clinical characteristics were collected and guideline recommended medications were evaluated. Patients were divided into with and without MACEs groups. Compared to patients without MACEs, those with MACEs were older (54.8 ± 16.4 vs 51.1 ± 15.2 years), more likely...

The effect of air pollution on hospitalization of individuals with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases in Jinan, China
To analyze the short-term effects of air pollution on the hospitalization rates of individuals with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD), stroke, and myocardial infarction (MI) after adjusting for confounding factors including weather, day of the week, holidays, and long-term trends in Jinan, China. Hospitalization information was extracted based on data from the primary class 3-A hospitals in Jinan from 2013 to 2015. The concentrations of PM2.5, PM10, SO2, NO2, and O3 were obtained from Jinan Environment Monitoring Center. The relative risk and 95% confidence intervals of AECOPD, stroke, a...

Sedentary behavior and the risk of cardiac-cerebral vascular diseases in southern China
Accumulating evidence has reported that prolonged periods of sedentary time have been recognized as a risk factor for cardiocerebrovascular disease. However, whether high levels of sedentary behavior are associated with an increased risk of cardiocerebrovascular disease in different regions remains unclear. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between sedentary behavior and the risk of myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke in Jiangxi Province of China. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 15,364 participants in Jiangxi Province of China from November 2013 to August 2014, using standardized questi...

Associations of common variants at ALDH2 gene and the risk of stroke in patients with coronary artery diseases undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention
Limited data are available about the role of common variants at the aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 gene (ALDH2) on the clinical outcome in Chinese patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). In the present study, a total of 1089 patients were consecutively enrolled from January 2012 and July 2013. Six common variants at ALDH2 gene, including rs2339840, rs4648328, rs4767939, rs11066028, rs16941669, and rs671, were selected to test the associations of those polymorphisms with the cardiovascular outcome in patients with CHD after PCI. The clinical endpoints included cardiovascular...
