High miR-126-3p levels associated with cardiovascular events in a general population
CONCLUSIONS: An increased plasma microRNAs profile was identified in hypertensive patients with albuminuria. Increased miR-126-3p suggest it may serve as a prognostic marker for cardiovascular events in a long-term general population. Further studies will assess the potential role of miR-126-3p as a guide for the status of endothelial dysfunction.PMID:37080818 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejim.2023.04.013

Cardiovascular outcomes and mortality after incident ischaemic stroke in patients with a recent cancer history
CONCLUSIONS: After incident ischaemic stroke, patients with recent cancer history have a lower risk of composite MACE and recurrent stroke outcomes but a higher risk of all-cause mortality when compared with patients without a prior history of cancer.PMID:36549951 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejim.2022.12.006

The international St-aging system as a prognostic marker in general senior population: Findings from the EPIDOS cohort study.
In conclusion, community-dwelling older women with abnormal ISS had shorter survival time than the others, suggesting that ISS could be considered as a universal prognostic "aging system" rather than a specific MM "staging system". PMID: 31387843 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Proprotein convertase subtilisin kexin 9 (PCSK9) inhibitors to treat hypercholesterolemia: Effect on stroke risk.
CONCLUSION: Although a benefit towards reduction of cardiovascular events in the overall has been documented, longer exposure is warranted to be able to evaluate the effect on stroke risk. PMID: 27363304 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Elevated plasma homocysteine level is associated with ischemic stroke in Chinese hypertensive patients.
CONCLUSIONS: Plasma homocysteine level is positively associated with the presence of IS, but not CHD, in Chinese hypertensive patients. PMID: 24824758 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
