One-year outcomes of the pivotal clinical trial of a balloon-expandable transcatheter aortic valve implantation in Japanese dialysis patients
CONCLUSIONS: TAVR using SAPIEN 3 is safe and effective for the treatment of Japanese dialysis patients with symptomatic severe aortic valve stenosis.PMID:34348863 | DOI:10.1016/j.jjcc.2021.07.006

Ischemic/bleeding event after short dual-antiplatelet therapy in patients with high bleeding risk: Sub-analysis of the MODEL U-SES study
CONCLUSION: In contemporary PCI practice, nearly half of patients had HBR and presence of HBR significantly increased risk of ischemic/thrombotic events. Both aspirin and P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy following short DAPT had low and comparable ischemic/bleeding events.PMID:33875313 | DOI:10.1016/j.jjcc.2021.03.015

Impact of bridge-to-bridge strategies from paracorporeal to implantable left ventricular assist devices on the pre-heart transplant outcome: A single-center analysis of 134 cases.
CONCLUSIONS: The BTB strategy is useful in providing long-term survival in patients with acute critical diseases. However, the early mortality rate after conversion is higher in patients who underwent the BTB strategy. PMID: 33243529 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Registry of antithrombotic therapy in atrial fibrillation patients with bioprosthetic valves: A retrospective observational study.
CONCLUSIONS: In a current real-world setting in Japan, warfarin was the most commonly used treatment in AF patients with bioprosthetic valves, but there was an increasing trend of DOAC-treated patients. Further investigations are needed to confirm the efficacy and safety of DOAC in patients with bioprosthetic valves. PMID: 32156512 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Rhythm versus rate control strategies regarding anticoagulant use in elderly non-valvular atrial fibrillation patients: Subanalysis of the ANAFIE (All Nippon AF In the Elderly) Registry.
CONCLUSIONS: Use versus non-use and antiarrhythmic therapy varied significantly by age, stroke risk scores, type of AF, and DOAC use between subgroups. PMID: 32081607 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Real-world outcomes of rivaroxaban treatment in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation and worsening renal function.
CONCLUSIONS: No association between WRF and occurrence of any bleeding, major bleeding, and stroke/systemic embolism/myocardial infarction was observed in patients with AF on rivaroxaban treatment during 1-year follow-up in real-world clinical practice. Clinicaltrials.gov: NCT01582737. PMID: 31371191 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

University hospitals, general hospitals, private clinics: Place-based differences in patient characteristics and outcomes of AF-A SAKURA AF Registry Substudy.
CONCLUSIONS: Adverse clinical events at small to large hospitals appear to be higher than those at private clinics, suggesting that careful attention for preventing stroke/SE and cardiovascular events should be paid to patients at a university or general hospital. PMID: 31253524 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Effectiveness and safety of long-term dabigatran among patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation in clinical practice: J-Dabigatran Surveillance.
CONCLUSIONS: The present results are indicative of the favorable benefit-risk profile of dabigatran in Japanese clinical practice. Dabigatran dose was not independently associated with thromboembolic and bleeding events in Japanese NVAF patients. PMID: 30871851 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
