Interleukin ‐17A and vascular remodelling in severe asthma; lack of evidence for a direct role
Conclusions & Clinical RelevanceOur results shed light on the role of IL‐17A in vascular remodelling, most likely through stimulating the synthesis of other angiogenic factors. Knowledge of these pathways may aid in the identification of new therapeutic targets.

Atopy in people aged 40  years and over: Relation to airflow limitation
Conclusion and Clinical RelevanceThe apparent association between atopy and post‐bronchodilator airflow limitation in the general population appears to be explained by the association between atopy and having ever diagnosed asthma and the effect of asthma on lung function.

Reference ranges for serum periostin in a population without asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Conclusions and Clinical RelevanceSerum periostin levels in adults without asthma or COPD are similar to those in adults with asthma. Serum periostin measurements do not need to be adjusted to take account of a patient's age or sex, although levels are lower in current smokers. Reference values for serum periostin levels in adults without asthma or COPD are provided.

Severe or life ‐threatening asthma exacerbation: patient heterogeneity identified by cluster analysis
Conclusions & Clinical RelevanceThis study demonstrated that significant heterogeneity exists among patients with severe or life‐threatening asthma exacerbation. Differences were observed in the severity of asthma symptoms and use of inhaled corticosteroids at baseline, and the presence of comorbid COPD. These findings may contribute to a deeper understanding and better management of this patient population.

Summary Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are each heterogeneous disease classifications that include several clinical and pathophysiological phenotypes. Effect of roflumilast on airway remodelling in a murine model of chronic asthma
ConclusionsThese results suggest that the administration of roflumilast regulates airway inflammation, AHR, and airway remodelling in a model of chronic asthma. The beneficial effects from roflumilast may be related to the SCF/c‐kit pathway.
