Fragmentation of Care in Patients with Peritoneal Metastases Undergoing Cytoreductive Surgery
CONCLUSIONS: There were no significant differences in survival or SAEs based on the networks of systemic therapy delivery. This suggests that patients undergoing CRS at a high-volume center may safely receive systemic therapy at outside-network facilities with comparable outcomes.PMID:37737968 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14318-1

Cancer Stem Cells of Esophageal Adenocarcinoma are Suppressed by Inhibitors of TRPV2 and SLC12A2
CONCLUSIONS: Based on the present results, TRPV2 and SLC12A2 are involved in the maintenance of CSCs, and their specific inhibitors, tranilast and furosemide, respectively, have potential as targeted therapeutic agents for EAC.PMID:37684371 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14247-z

Neoadjuvant Gastric Score: How Response to Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Affects Overall Survival and Adjuvant Benefit
CONCLUSION: NAR score may be repurposed to generate a prognostic tool in gastric adenocarcinoma to predict 5-year OS and has the potential to guide decision-making regarding allocation of adjuvant therapy. Further studies should prospectively validate these findings to confirm clinical utility.PMID:37659978 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14259-9

Impact of Preoperative Tumor Size on Prognosis of Resectable and Borderline Resectable Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinomas
CONCLUSION: Larger TS was associated with a higher R1 rate and is a worse prognostic factor in patients with R-PDAC.PMID:37658273 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14219-3

Expression Changes in Programmed Death Ligand 1 from Precancerous Lesions to Invasive Adenocarcinoma in Subcentimeter Pulmonary Nodules: A Large Study of 2022 Cases in China
CONCLUSIONS: PD-L1 expression was significantly associated with radiological and pathological invasiveness and driver mutation status in subcentimeter pulmonary nodules. The significance of PD-L1 expression in the evolution of early-stage lung adenocarcinoma requires further investigation.PMID:37658270 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14009-x

Oncological outcomes of standard versus prolonged time to surgery after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for oesophageal cancer in the multicentre randomised controlled NeoRes II trial
CONCLUSION: Prolonged time to surgery did not improve histological complete response or other pathological endpoints, while there was a strong trend towards worse survival, suggesting caution in routinely delaying surgery for more than six weeks after nCRT.PMID:37657554 | DOI:10.1016/j.annonc.2023.08.010

Circulating Tumor Cells are an Independent Risk Factor for Poor Prognosis in Patients with Gallbladder Adenocarcinoma
CONCLUSION: Positive CTCs was an independent predictor of poor prognosis after resection in patients with gallbladder adenocarcinoma. Preoperative detection of CTCs may play an important guiding role in formulating treatment strategies for these patients.PMID:37635189 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14231-7

Accuracy and Survival Outcomes after National Implementation of Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy in Early Stage Endometrial Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: In our nationwide cohort we obtained high sensitivity of SLN biopsy to detect nodal disease. The oncologic outcomes of patients with negative nodes and low-volume disease were similar after tailoring adjuvant treatments. In total, 22% of patients with macrometastasis and 50% of patients with micrometastasis were at low risk of nodal metastasis according to their preoperative risk factors, revealing the importance of SLN biopsy in the surgical management of patients with early stage EC.PMID:37633852 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14065-3
