CD8+ T-cells Co-expressing PD-1 and TIGIT Are Highly Frequent in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
Iran J Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2021 Dec 8;20(6):751-763. doi: 10.18502/ijaai.v20i6.8027.ABSTRACTThe role of immune checkpoint receptors in T-cell exhaustion has been demonstrated in several cancers. We investigated the co-expression of TIGIT/PD-1 and LAG-3/PD-1 cells in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The frequencies of TIGIT+PD-1+CD8+and LAG-3+PD-1+CD8+cells and relative mRNA expression of LSECtin and CD155 were examined in PBMCs from 33 CLL patients and 20 controls. The percentage of TIGIT+PD-1+CD8+cells was significantly higher in CLL patients than in control subjects, with the preference in advanced s...

Korean Adolescent Patient with Manifestations of Lymphocyte Variant Hypereosinophilic Syndrome and Episodic Angioedema with Eosinophilia, Treated with Reslizumab
Iran J Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2022 Apr 11;21(2):215-218. doi: 10.18502/ijaai.v21i2.9229.ABSTRACTA four-year-old female patient visited the pediatric hematologic clinic due to periodic generalized edema and eosinophilia. Laboratory assessment showed an eosinophil count of 40.02×109/L (73.6% of white blood cells). A bone marrow aspirate smear film showed no signs of malignant cells but had hypercellular marrow particles with eosinophilia (45% of all nucleated cells) and 52% of eosinophils were immature. Other laboratory tests showed an increased IgM level of 827 mg/dL, and lymphocyte phenotyping by flow cytometry revealed ...

The Effects of PI3K/Akt/mTOR Signaling Pathway Inhibitors on the Expression of Immune Checkpoint Ligands in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Cell Line
Iran J Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2022 Apr 11;21(2):178-188. doi: 10.18502/ijaai.v21i2.9225.ABSTRACTUp-regulation of immune checkpoint ligands is considered as one of the most important immune escape mechanisms in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Herein, we investigate a relationship between the inhibition of PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathways and the regulation of immune checkpoint ligands in AML cells. The HL-60 cell line was treated with idelalisib as PI3K inhibitor, MK-2206 as Akt inhibitor, and everolimus as mTOR inhibitor either in a single or combined format. Cell viability and apoptosis were evaluated using MTT and flow cy...
