Utility of Supplemental Training to Improve Radiologist Performance in Breast Cancer Screening: A Literature Review
ConclusionsSupplemental training helps radiologists improve their screening performance, despite the mainly moderate quality of the studies. There is a need for better designed studies. Future studies should focus on performance in actual screening practice and should look for methods to isolate the training effect. If test sets are used, focus should be on knowledge about correlation between performance on test sets and actual screening practice.

How genomic information is accessed in clinical practice: an electronic survey of UK general practitioners
AbstractGenomic technologies are having an increasing impact across medicine, including primary care. To enable their wider adoption and realize their potential, education of primary health-care practitioners will be required. To enable the development of such resources, understanding where GPs currently access genomic information is needed. One-hundred fifty-nine UK GPs completed the survey in response to an open invitation, between September 2017 and September 2018. Questions were in response to 4 clinical genomic scenarios, with further questions exploring resources used for rare disease patients, direct-to-consumer gen...

Consider the Promises and Challenges of Medical Image Analyses Using Machine Learning
Medical imaging saves millions of lives each year, helping doctors detect and diagnose a wide range of diseases, from cancer and appendicitis to stroke and heart disease. Because non-invasive early disease detection saves so many lives, scientific investment continues to increase. Artifical intelligence (AI) has the potential to revolutionize the medical imaging industry by sifting through mountains of scans quickly and offering providers and patients with life-changing insights into a variety of diseases, injuries, and conditions that may be hard to detect without the supplemental technology. Images are the largest source...

Health Education and Nursing Needs of Breast Cancer Patients With Totally Implantable Venous Access Ports at Different Stages
CONCLUSIONS: BC patients' needs for health education and nursing vary at different stages when using TIVAPs. Nurses are the main source of knowledge about TIVAP in different periods for BC patients, and the nurses should obtain multidisciplinary health knowledge to enhance the benefits of the education for patients. The current education for patient is traditional, and hospitals need to implement new modes of education such as medical systems and network platforms, lectures, and posters for health education.PMID:36239566

Breast Self-examination Education for BRCA Mutation Carriers by Clinical Nurse Specialists
Purpose: Breast self-examination (BSE) may be beneficial for women with a BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation. Therefore, these women are often advised to perform BSE. However, only 20% to 35% is performing BSE monthly, and proficiency levels are low. Recently diagnosed carriers are educated by a specially trained clinical nurse specialist (CNS) on how to perform BSE, as part of the yearly surveillance. Clinical nurse specialists are already commonly involved in breast cancer care. However, CNSs are not yet involved in the counseling of BRCA mutation carriers. The aim of this RCT was 2-fold: (1) to evaluate the feasibility of CNS-led ...
